Payday

I used to work in a print shop on Kirinyaga road. We used to get paid on the last working day of the month, a day like today. At about 4 PM, if you were a skilled worker like a print machine operator or a graphic design person, this would be you.

My first job nilikua nakanjwa kwa bahasha 6k. The niccur used to travel from Rwanda. So ingefika ata 20th bado mneja anasema ati ngojea mkubwa bado hajatoka Rwanda. Alafu biggie kufika mneja anakurusha 1k sometimes. So unaingia job full month unakanjwa 5k. Heheee.

Our boss used to be devious. Katikati ya mwezi ukiitisha advance he’s so willing to give you so that end month anajua he’s giving less money. It got to a point where some people, myself included, would get paid on Friday or Saturday and on Monday we’d be back asking for an advance.
