We live in a troubled world. Trouble at every turn. Peace of mind can become elusive. The challenges of life can take away our peace if we remove our focus on the Prince of Peace. As children of God ,He promises that no matter our circumstances if our mind is stayed on him He will keep us in perfect peace because we trust in Him Isaiah 26:3 .The world can give you an ephemeral peace, when you have money, when you have people who genuinely love and care for you, when your health is great and everything is going great. You can buy a nice car and it gives you some peace ,you can have a wonderful relationship and it give you a little peace. Now when your car starts giving you trouble and your relationship becomes rocky, that peace that the world gives leaves faster than it came.
When we were kids we sang this song with Christ in my heart I can smile at the storm. Not be in panic like Jesus disciples who inspite of Jesus being physically with them in the storm thought they would drown. Faith is the opposite of fear and without faith no man can please God. If we look for lasting peace elsewhere, we won’t find it. If we think any government,any man,any woman ,any job,any car,any holiday, any amount of fame and fortune in the world can provide it, we are greatly mistaken. We only need to look at celebs who have it all who had no peace. They were so tormented that some took their lives because they had no peace yet they had everything the world told them would give them peace.
Trust means letting God fight my battles: the battles in my mind, the battles in my flesh , and the battles in my heart. This is why its not by power and not by might but by God’s Spirit. Peace in your inner man that can not be touched by any external circumstances. I remember Janet Kanini and how her face was so radiant inspite of the battle she’d fought with stage 4 cancer. You could see the peace of God that surpasses all understanding and all circumstances. Jesus said, in this world you will have trouble but be of good cheer for I have overcome! Phillipians 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts (from high blood pressure )and your minds( from depression and stress) in Christ Jesus.
Are you burdened and heavy laden, Jesus said ,come to Me and I will give you rest. Its time to enter into the Lord’s rest. Your strategies and cunning and best laid out plans and intentions are not giving you a certain peace ,a lasting peace, a peace that doesnt leave when trouble knocks at your door. Bless Jesus. Are you troubled , stop whatever your doing and go to a place of prayer, go to your room, or anywhere private, take it to the Lord in prayer. Hebrew 4:10 For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. Go to that prayer closet and for a moment forget your troubles and just focus on Jesus ,worship Him,praise Him and think about how great and good He is , peace will come down , not an ephemeral peace but a real and lasting peace. Jesus loves and cares for you so much. Come to Him and you will find everything the world cant give you. Bless the wonderful name of Jesus - the holy lamb of God. Shalom. Blessed week.
