NASA’s newest robotic explorer has landed safely on Mars after a nearly 300-million-mile journey that began on a Florida launch pad.
The agency’s Perseverance rover touched down on the Red Planet at 3:55 p.m. EST Thursday, bringing an end to the “seven minutes of terror” that saw a fiery atmospheric entry and parachute-assisted descent. The rover’s landing mechanism then fired eight retrorockets to slow down and guide it to a proper landing spot before using nylon cords to lower it onto the surface.

“Touchdown confirmed! Perseverance is safely on the surface of Mars, ready to begin seeking the signs of past life,” exclaimed NASA engineer Swati Mohan.
I agree. People are homeless and sleeping under bridges in the US, frozen Texas has no power or water while billions are wasted on useless adventures to mars. They should first solve earthly problems before worrying about mars.
Job creation? Unajua pesa ngapi imetumika hapo? imecreatia watu wangapi kazi? unajua io pesa inaweza kuwa employed kupatia kila mkenya job? na tuko 50 million ujue
Boss, everything has a budget, all the money of a country cannot go into feeding people alone. And why call going to Mars a useless adventure when top countries and billionaires like Musk, Bezos and Branson are all trying to get there? Are you saying they are all stupid and you are the smart one?
A lot of scientists and support staff are hired by those space exploration companies not to mention the people hired to manufacture and install the necessary vehicles and infrastructure for space exploration.
US military budget for 2020 was $720 billion. Nasa budget for the same year was $20 billion. If you are concerned about American taxpayers money being wasted, focus on the correct areas.
Very true, id rather my govt spent money on a supposedly useless space company nipewe job huko than nipewe job kazi mtaani ya kuosha barabara na ku unblock sewage.
