“Sunroof intact, occupants dead”

“Grill iko sawa”

“Number plate intact”

The comments on that page are comical. The person who posts those salvage vehicles is mad!

Correct. Subaru legacy BL5. Salvage being sold at 520k.

The guy whose sells those cars is a friend to a friend of mine…He is a broker who sells the car on behalf of the car yard.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to break it up and sell for parts?

that bugger mimi humuona akiweka adverts fb wasee hujam naye mbaya juu ya crazy markups

Kumbe sio mimi pekee huona hawa jamaa wa salvage wakiwa wamechizi. In most adverts, the prices are crazy mpaka unashindwa ni mjinga gani anaweza nunua at that price badala ya kuongeza pesa anunue gari haijafanya accident.

Buying at 900K-1M is fair enough, after repairs ukiuza, one can expect like 400-500K profit.

True you buy repair n disposal

Very key info for a salvage.

You’ll pay tax at the point of re-registration. Sample this text from NTSA:

Have you recently purchased a vehicle from an Army, Police or Customs auction? You are required to re-register the vehicle. Apply for re-registration on https://ntsa.ecitizen.go.ke .

Some parts don’t move that much, you’ll be stuck with dead stock and a storage (and hence security) headache. If you’re not a spare parts seller itakusumbua bure.

Resale value

Gari za salvage niliziogopa mimi. A buddy had a toyota allion new model salvaged. He only enjoyed it for a month before problems started. At one point, tukiwa biashara mataa zote kwa dashboard zikawaka. Mara sensors, mara drive shaft…he even changed the gearbox twice karibu apate kipara. After replacing the gearbox the second time, he disposed it immediately. The next owner enjoyed it for a month ikaitisha gearbox mpya TENA. Salvaged cars are horror stories.

Shida huwa the mechanics in kenya are almost all whack/quacks (if theres something like that) so wakiunda gari salvage wanaunda kienyeji tu.
If you buy a salvage do the repairs yourself, get a good mech like @introvert and dont spare any cost
