This law denies opposition leaders key State benefits including 24-hour security and their entitlements.
It means that opposition leader Raila Odinga and his co-principals cannot claim to have been denied any privilege by the government when their security was withdrawn.
Security was not withdrawn, it was just reduced to a reasonable chunk. It is Matiang’i’s way of thinking, why should one person walk around from a shopping mall to a street protest with 20 policemen while there is a village somewhere without adequate security?.
Wetangula and Kalonzo can’t wait for Raila to leave the political scene. They were already talking of “succeeding” him when he was whitewashed in the August elections.
