Good people of Kenya correct me if am wrong here …
According to the quote below, ….. A candidate’s withdrawal is equated or likened to a death which infers that the candidates withdrawing are no longer contesting. Any nomination to take place would hence exclude the candidate that has withdrawn from the contest.
“In 2013, the Supreme Court said, “Suppose, however, that the candidates or a candidate that took part in the original election, dies or abandons the electoral quest before the scheduled date, then the provisions of Article 138 (8) (b) would become applicable, with fresh nominations ensuing…”
Does this mean Raila is technically bowing out of politics, or is there a provision in the constitution which enables candidates to withdraw and re-enter again.
