RAM upgrade?

So i just started a bit of Android development on my i5 4GB RAM laptop and Android studio has been a bit laggy , especially when emulating ,making the process painfully slow. Few questions:
Will moving my RAM up to 8GB (2x4GB) solve this?
Will RAM sticks from different manufacturers be compatible?
What will be the result of mixing RAM with different properties e.g frequency?
Best place to get the actual RAM in Nairobi na bei nzuri.

Check out this site >>> http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/systemscanner

Download & run the scanner it will tell you what kind of memory you have, slots of memory and compatible upgrades.

Mixing frequency will work but the slowest frequency will be used not the highest.

Which gen is your i5?

4th gen

hehe. I am faced with the same issue and a painful multidex error…anyways upgrading RAM will not sort u out completely even if u use benchmarking and upgrading as required.
The Processor clockspeed matters here. I had to switch to AMD Fx. and why are u emulating on the PC? Si u connect ur Android with USB…

Is your i5 duo core or quad? Maybe your i5 is duo core leading to lagging in your s/w

Moved up to 8GB. Everything is smooth now. Thanks everyone

… Will need to debug phone first.
