Retarded OLX Buyers

Sometimes, I buy things from desperadoes and resell them on olx. Mostly electronics. Clean machines with proper documentation. Since this is not my main hustle, I don’t spend too much time on it. I just post photos of the actual product I’m selling, give a very detailed description, then I sit back and wait. All the electronics I’ve sold on OLX have been bought within 2 weeks of posting. Anyway, the point of this thread is, there are some potential buyers who’re either very thick, or just trolls.
For example, last month was very tricky for most people. Most were still experiencing Njaanuary aftershocks. So this guy comes to me with a core i5 laptop, still brand new, barely 5 months old. Guess how much he wants for it? Just 10k!! I think he was in some really deep shit financially, had tried to sell it for a higher amount and nobody had shown interest. Judging by how desperate he was, if I wanted, I could have bargained to around 8k, but I’m not a heartless bastard. I just thoroughly kaguad the machine, reviewed the documents then gave him his money. Fifteen minutes after concluding business with him, the machine was on OLX, going for 22,000 shs.
This is when the nonsense began. People would call me, expressing interest in the laptop. They would then ask me silly questions. Questions that I’d already answered in the detailed description I’d given. Others just go through everything you’ve written, as if to confirm you were not high when you posted that advert. A typical convo:
Retarded Olx Buyer(ROB): Hi!
Captain Obvious (CO) : Hi
ROB: Are you the one who’s selling a laptop?
CO: Yes, it is I.
ROB: It’s a core i5 eh?
CO: Yes.
ROB: 500 Gb HDD?
CO: Yes.
ROB: 4 Gb RAM?
CO: Yes.
ROB: What about the OS?
CO: What about it?
ROB: Can you tell me more about it?
CO: Do you know how to read?
ROB: Excuse me?
CO: Can you read???
ROB: Yes…of course.
CO: So you have a problem with comprehension?
ROB: Nnnnnoooo…
CO: You must be stupid then. Is that it…are you stupid?
ROB: I don’t understand…
CO: Of course you don’t understand, because you’re stupid. I gave a very detailed description of the product I’m selling. If you really knew how to read and understand, there’d be no need for you to ask all the questions you’ve asked me. Sir, have I, maybe, wronged you before in the past?
ROB: Wha…? Wronged me? I barely know you!!!
CO: Then why do you torture me with your stupidity? What have I done to deserve this?
ROB: Okay, you’re obviously in a foul mood and…
CO: I WAS IN A GOOD MOOD BEFORE YOU CALLED!!! DO ME A FAVOR…READ THAT ADVERT CAREFULLY, MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT IT ENTAILS, IF YOU’RE STILL INTERESTED IN BUYING THE LAPTOP, CALL ME BACK AND…
ROB: hangs up

For some strange reason, they never call back.

Reminds me of the characters who get into a house and ask whoever they find inside, “Kwani hakuna mtu kwa hii nyumba?”

my weirdest observation is those guys selling cars on OLX then unapata picture location surrounding is a garage with Njugush and Njoro working on cars with the hoods open. the first thing that comes to mind is that the car being sold ni ya mashida ivi ivi. ama they took the phrase “location! location! location” literally

yes you can, but your guard must be always up. genuine sellers will organize meet ups without pestering you and give you time to view the car, documentation and make your decision.lakini if the seller keeps saying “harakisha na ikuje na deposit kuna watu wengi wanaitaka, unakuja saa ngapi?” just know hapo kuna maneno…just never go alone when making any purchase on OLX.

Just go to the yard and be sure.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Kenyan business people. The dude was probably just trying to break the ice with you but you went all ballistic on him. I feel it was really unnecessary and insolent. You should have politely to read your ad again.

Washenzi sana. Wengine huko huko olx wanaku-inbox kuitisha number yako ya simu, na umei-display hapo kando ya advert yako.

Hata conmen huwa serious sana about calling. Pale ni ku-trust insticts zako.

kila market ina conman. Just be extra vigilant. Vitu ndogo ndogo kama kuingia kwa gari ya the buyer or seller usijaribu.
