Nostaligic! 'NAKEI' in lingala means 'I GO' so when Mbilia Bel says Nakei Nairobi, she is literally saying 'I am going to Nairobi' blah blah blah.
The sad part about that song was that it talks about the discrimination that Zaireans suffered at the hands of us Xenophobic Kenyans.
Dont forget that this during a period when Kenya was seen as the Place to be by the Rest of east and central africa thanks to the thriving economy but as with all great Nations and people in General;xenophobia, racism ,superiority and all other manner of vices are never too far off.
The song is about her wanting to come to rescue her childhood friend who is being mistreated at the hands of a Kenyan employer.- (mboch)

Cheki maneno.
