RICE

Hi talkers,
I want to start farming rice but first on a small scale to acclimatize. i want to start with one hectare, is anyone here well versed with rice farming to help me with an estimate cost and approx returns.
and also the best varieties of rice to consider. THANK YOU!

And also while we are here is mbaazi or dengu a profitable investment?

Where is your shamba? I guess the best resource people would be your immediate neighbours who have been growing the crop.

s

siko mwea brother. i want to lease the land.

highland rice has lower yield. nataka ya flooding coz am near mwea.

Am a son of mwea. First of all, the so called Highland rice ain’t good quality rice. Ni kama ile bonoko inatoka Pakistan. Am sure you have heard of pishori rice. Well, the best of that is grown in mwea. Leasing a land here for a season (6months) will cost you 50k. Currently rice is being bought by NCPB, a first btw @65/-Kg. However, the planting has already been done in preparation for June harvest.

NB: Rice prices change with time…hours, days and finally months. Yaani, unaeza uza rice 65/- at 11:00AM, ikifika 14:00HRS, You smiling all the way to the bank ukiwa umeuza 75/-.

Hiyo 50K ni how many hectares?

50k/acre
