root and unlock bootloader

Hi guys,if I root and unlock bootloader for my phone…xiaomi…will I still be able to get system updates? Want to try out a mod whereby I add/change LTE base bands to accommodate local bands 3 n 20, currently only connect to band 3 therefore 4G is always fluctuating. Safcom use both 3 n 20, Telkom will use 20. Asante I in advance.cc @mukuna saidia rooting procedures?

ukiroot you will still get updates but the phone will fail to install due to the modified system

What I do ni, si kama a the whole firmware ukiextract si kuna system.img which ni the OS like
Boot.img which ni kernel
Recovery.img
Radio.img
Vendor.img
Data.img
Cache.img
… To update simply extract all these kwa folder ya ADB/Fastboot tools
Fungua cmd hapo the type Fastboot flash system system.img.
Do this for all save for the data partition, data ukiflash itaclear data zako…
That’s how I updated from a custom rom Mashmallow to Stock Nougat
