Hundreds of the United Democratic Alliance(UDA) supporters stormed into Nyamira county offices on Thursday, November 4, demanding that deputy president William Ruto’s donation be released.

The group of vegetable vendors commonly known as mama mbogas, accused the area member of Parliament, Vincent Kemosi of pocketing their money.
DP Ruto, who had taken his bottom-up gospel to Nyamira county on Tuesday, November 2, gave the lawmaker Ksh.1 million to give to the small-scale traders of West Mugirango. The locals however claimed that 72 hours later, the MP had not given them a single cent from the share, and they wanted it released immediately.

They UDA supporters refused to leave the offices, and vowed to pitch camp at the premises, until the MP releases their money.

The crowd was milling around the offices, but did not get any feedback from the officials who were present.

The Nyamira traders are now demanding that should the MP fail to release the money, the deputy president should intervene.

This is not the first time that donations by the Deputy President are causing drama, as he traverses the country, ahead of 2022 polls.

At first, it happened at the coast, in Mombasa, at the Kongowea market, where they claimed that Ksh1.3 million had been allegedly embezzled and deposited into private accounts.

A few days later, after the deputy president pitched a tent at Kakamega, the ward representatives together with other UDA supporters claimed that Bonny Khalwale, the former Kakamega senator had pocketed their money.

So far, all the accused politicians have claimed that they have not embezzled the funds.

Ruto does not distribute free money to individuals.

These are mama mbogas not boda boda

Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has downplayed reports of mass defections from the party to ODM in Kisii County.

UDA National Treasurer Omingo Magara says the party is yet to conduct grassroots elections and as such has no officials at the local level to be assumed to have left to join ODM.
“UDA has not held grassroots elections to fill party position. Therefore those who are masquerading to be officials from the sub-counties and defecting were defections from positions they never held,” Mr Magara said at the Hustlers Centre, the party’s headquarters on Thursday.

He said the “purported defections” were meant to hoodwink Kenyans that UDA was fizzling out in Gusii region.
“To the contrary, the movement is fine. We are focused, determined and have a direction to follow and have no laxity of turning back and our eyes are facing the ball to deliver our country and community to prosperity using the bottoms up approach,” said Mr Magara.

On Wednesday, ODM received more than 1,000 new members in Kisii who were said to have left UDA.

The group, which met at Alexandria Hotel in Kisii town, also pledged support for Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who they said is their son and had done a lot to improve Gusii people’s welfare through development projects.

Some of the defectors said they were UDA youth leaders and grassroots mobilisers from Kisii County.

Ms Mogire Nyatichi, a key supporter of the Deputy President, is one of the defectors. She was among dozens of Ruto supporters arraigned in court recently after they were arrested at the home of Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi for holding an illegal gathering.

She was also the chairlady for ‘Wasupa Na Ruto’ in Kisii County and was arrested in Menyinkwa during a UDA registration drive.
Another defector is Mr Rogers Onyancha, who said he had thrown his weight behind former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and will henceforth campaign for him.
But Mr Magara dismissed the team, arguing the party was yet to name grassroots officials.
“We are yet to fill those slots. What we have done is mass registration of UDA members,” added Mr Magara.

Ruto evacuated from Kondele, Kisumu County to Rongo, Migori on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.

“Be peaceful while receiving the funds, I don’t want to hear or see chaos erupting as a result of the donation.

‘‘On Friday, organize yourselves into small groups so that you can receive money from my logistics team. I do not want to witness any chaos’’ the UDA party leader reiterated.

Ruto speaks to Kisumu residents on Wednesday, November 10

This came after a group of rowdy youth pelted his convoy with stones in Kondele on Wednesday, November 10. According to the police, the chaos came as a result of disagreements over how to distribute the money among residents, the police further stated that they had issued a warning alerting the Deputy President of possible chaos but he did not listen.

Speaking in Homa Bay, Ruto disclosed to the residents that he did everything possible to lift ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta to higher positions in the government, further adding that it was his turn to lead.

“You all know that it’s me who helped Agwambo (Raila Odinga) to get the Prime Minister’s post in 2007. You are all aware that I am the one who helped Uhuru Kenyatta win the presidency in the 2013 and 2017 General Election. It’s now my turn to represent you, Kenyans, at the high office. It’s not written anywhere that Ruto’s only function is to make kings and princes,” he remarked.

He further stated that he was aware of an alleged plan by Uhuru and Raila to lock him out of the presidency.

“I know they’ve planned to defeat me. However, I’m telling them that I also have my own roadmap, which will surprise them. You’d hear them calling me a thief or criminal so as to incite the electorate against me. However, when I was on their side, they didn’t see a thief or criminal in me,” Ruto emphasized.

Ruto Shortchanged Me - Viral Woman Who Sold Roasted Maize to DP

Elizabeth Mueni, the woman who went viral after selling Deputy President William Ruto roasted maize, has accused the DP of failing to keep his word.

Speaking on Thursday, November 4, the Machakos woman mentioned that ever since she met the Deputy President three months ago, none of the promises the second in command made to her has been fulfilled.

She stated that when she met the DP, she knew her life was going to change for the better and that Ruto promised to build her a home, expand her business and take her daughter back to school.

“When I sold the Deputy President maize, it was my prayer that my situation was going to change entirely. When I heard he was here, I knew it was the end of my troubles,” Mueni stated.

DP Ruto and a Mama Elizabeth Mueni enjoy a light moment on Friday, July 9, 2021

Mueni, however, mentioned that it still remains a dream, and her prayer has not changed despite her attempts to reach out to the Deputy President remaining largely unsuccessful.

She pointed out that since her chance meeting with the DP, her efforts to get hold of him on call, text messages or via social messaging app, WhatsApp, has proven an uphill task.

She narrates that she has gone to the extent of sending the DP her photos on the messaging app in order to make him remember her, but no response has been forthcoming.

Mueni says that despite going to DP Ruto’s home and narrating all her problems to him, she is yet to have any of the promises fulfilled.

"I even wrote him a letter and gave my daughter to take it to him. She hoped that the Deputy President would read the letter and send her to school but that was not the case.

"After a long wait, my daughter came back and told me there was no hope. She said that she would go back to Kisii to continue working as a house help, so that she can support me financially.

“I begged my daughter to wait but since there was no response, she gave up, and ran away from home to go continue working as a house girl,” Mueni tearfully narrated.

While narrating her situation amidst tears, the woman urged the DP to remember her and honor his bottom-up model which is about uplifting the struggling people in the society.

"When I came to your home Ruto, you promised to change my life. You promised to take my daughter to school. You promised to build me a home, and I believed my life was going to change. You promised me all that but three months down the line, I am still where I was.

"I am returning my cry to you. What happened? People laugh at me and I have even lost customers. My job is even worse than it was when I met you. Why can’t you help me?

“You have the bottom-up vision, but do you really know what bottom-up is?
I am where you left me. Everyone was happy to see my photos with you, but you just vanished after that,” Mueni cried.

Notably, Mueni’s mother mentioned that they had become the town’s laughingstock, mentioning that people have been ridiculing them for being misused by politicians.

The sooner kenyans voters realize handouts will get them nowhere the better for them. Focus should be on a system that will create opportunities for all.

acha apeane. atleast he isnt hiding them somewhere in pandora. How groups split the money is not his problem

And today he “donated” another 2.5m to boda boda and 2m to mama mboga in homabay. And yet his pay before tax is 1.2m. Can KRA look into his taxes.

Ama he is using the trick where you claim/lie that you have donated but in reality you give no cash, just words, and then you leave people fighting for non exisistent cash like happened in kisii juzi.

Ruto has been dragging Uhuru behind, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu now claims.

Small scale vegetable vendors and Boda boda operators from Bungoma county have expressed their disappointment after Deputy President William Ruto allegedly failed to fulfill his promise of donating Ksh 2M to support them. Speaking to the press on Monday, November 15, the traders stated that they had many expectations which Ruto did not meet.

According to the group, the rally in Western was supposed to be a game-changer, since they knew they would get handouts.

However, the traders say that although the deputy president promised to leave them Ksh2 million, up to date, they do not know if he gave the money, and if he did, they have no idea who was to deliver the elusive windfall.

“I want to ask you one thing, Deputy President. Are Bungoma people different from others? Wherever you went, you gave handouts but when it came to us, you did not give anything.

“We knew you were coming to uplift our lives and businesses, but it seems our expectations cannot be met,” one of the boda boda riders stated.

The locals complain that during his rally, they basked under the sun, were rained on and they even shut their businesses for the entire day, just to follow Ruto and dance for him wherever he went.

The chairman of the boda boda riders in the area claimed that he mobilized everyone early in the morning, just to ensure they were set for the rally to show love to the DP, but now the riders have turned against him.
“As the chairperson of riders in Bungoma, I am having a hard time because the others think I have squandered their money, but the reality is that I have not received a single cent Ruto had promised to give.
“I mobilised people from morning organizing his event and we were rained on for the better part of the day, just ensuring that we give him a heroic reception, but our efforts were all in vain,” he lamented.

The vegetable vendors on their part regret that they shut their businesses for the entire day, but they were not compensated as they expected.

“The day Ruto came to Bungoma, we all shut down our businesses. We did not sell anything. All we did was dance and cheer him, and we knew he would leave Ksh1 million as promised, which he did not,” one vendor remarked.

The locals demanded that the country’s second-in-command visits the area once again so that they can have a more candid interaction.

Amani National Congress leader, Musalia Mudavadi, comes a distant third with 2 percent, Wiper Democratic leader Kalonzo Musyoka 1 percent, KANU’s Gideon Moi 1 percent, while all other presidential candidates shared 4 percent.

The study also indicated that 23 percent of the Kenyan people were undecided by the time the study was conducted, while 10 percent chose not to respond. However, Ruto’s influence seems to have slightly declined, with Odinga’s increasing by a huge margin between the months of June and November.

Ruto’s popularity decreased from 39 percent to the current 38 percent, while Odinga’s increased from 8 percent to 23 percent.

ODM rally in Malindi

On political party influence, leading the pack was UDA with 30 percent, ODM 16 percent, Jubilee 5 percent, while Wiper, KANU, FORD-K, and ANC were all at 1 percent. 46 percent of the people interviewed stated that they were not affiliated with any political outfit.

UDA was also depicted as the most evenly distributed across various parts of the country, closely following was ODM and Jubilee that was more concentrated in Nyanza and Mt Kenya respectively.

Kenyans also expressed their thoughts on candidates with the biggest presidential potential, with Fred Matiang’i and Alfred Mutua topping the list. Matiang’i stood at 22 percent, Mutua 18 percent, Wycliffe Oparanya 12 percent, Hassan Joho 8 percent, Peter Kenneth 8 percent, Martha Karua 3 percent, Mwangi wa Iria 2 percent, Babu Owino 2 percent, and Kivutha Kibwana 2 percent.

More than half of Kenyans also felt that the country was heading in the wrong direction (59 percent) while 19 percent stated that the country was heading towards the right direction.

A tranquil atmosphere characterized by peace and security, good leadership, and improved infrastructure are some of the reasons Kenyans felt that Kenya was heading in the right direction.

On the other hand, the high cost of living topped as the parameter that Kenyans used to perceive that the country was headed in the wrong direction. Other factors included unemployment, poor leadership, and political divisions.
