Safaricom android box

Hi villagers, has anyone used the safaricom android box ? Kindly share your experiences

I would not recommend it. Where I am, it lists about 300 channels but only about 10 are watchable. The rest show a ‘No Signal’ banner. You can only watch FTA channels. One can only enjoy Signet for so long.

The decoder itself is slow when running android programs and I find the UI unintuitive. It often drops internet connection and has a rather annoying initial registration and setup that requires an internet connection for it to work. Something to keep in mind if you decide to reset it.

And someone told me Safcom is considering abandoning it. I can’t remember who… It might be true because the internet package (1k for 6 Gigs) that came with the BigBox is no longer available for purchase.

Thanx for the info @TerribleWaste can u recommend for me the best android box. I want to stream live football games

I’m using it as we speak.

Good.
Like them or not safcom internet speed is very good. The box is 4G enabled so it flawlessly connects to a 4G devices quickly. Quick customercare services should you have to call them. FTA channels are there like all other decorders but you really didn’t buy it for that. Its stable and reliable since safcom 4G and 3G network is wide and dependable.

BAD
Like everything Safcom good speeds and service comes at a cost. Initially it was 6GB was 1K but now its 1,200 which for me will last 10 days. However if you buy for 2K it can even last a month since you get more. It all depends on your usage.
My sibling has his own and he is online 24/7 and he buys the 3,200 package a month for 16GB and he is set.

The first months they had a network problem and they called to apologize then let it ran unlimited as compensation for a few months. Those months I watched Netflix throughout until I couldn’t stand it.

@Electronics4u @Giggz Iko fearshara hapa

zuku fiber infinite 60…boss you will thank me later…unlimited internet.

10k monthly kaa biz, in the name of entertainment? Na mna hela za kuchoma…

Wachana na hio upus. If you have an old desktop/laptop you can convert to a media center that would save you some bucks. You can use a USB t2 card to get FTA channels.

If you must buy a set top box, get some other android box and unlimited internet from zuku/faiba/liquid telcom. Upus ya bundles ni sa ile uko kichakani na internet lazma uaccess na hakuna airtel.

Take a walk through the FTA and IPTV category ujionee mambo. Ukitaka pia satellite tv iko huko yote. Wachana na hio upus

Unfortunately zuku, faiba and liquid is only based in some sections of Nairobi or urban areas. That’s were safcom has an advantage. Zuku wasn’t an option to begin with. I had it in the office for a month and I donated the equipment out of frustration. The damn thing never worked, constantly down and useless customercare. There is no need of charging cheaply then give people false hope.

forrowing

hook me up with one

that must have been then… they upgraded the whole infrastructure, i can assure you right now nobody even safari-con can march to them now. For cost i agree they have reserved to the high end clientèle.
