Safaricom & Saffran Morpho or “Mteja Hapaticani”

Safaricom is now linked to the IT service providers that are alleged to have conspired not to relay results. The conspiracy allegation are getting more complex, it is necessary to have an alternative method of validating results which is admissible and acceptable, one which falls outside the framework of technology.

The technology in use can slow down or temporary fail especially when inundated with too much data, some people will think it is a deliberate act of manipulation but these things happen a lot even with big banks using very advanced technology.
When too many calls are made to the server simultaneously it can temporary denied access, people need to know to do when this sort of thing happens; that they have to wait a short while and retry again to allow the server or network free its resources, to do… voter validation search or result transmission etc – it is a “mteja hapaticani” moment but without the audible voice.
One can only guess that the officers when unable to transmit through results packed up the forms instead of retrying the transmission.

It appears people reported such incidents to the political parties instead of informing the ICT support team for guidance. Such momentary bleeps may have been interpreted as something fishy going on, then allegation followed.

This sort of thing is likely to happen in the repeat election.

Thus why the electronic aspect should be done away with altogether.

@Silly Nv,the only morpho we know is mofo

Yes lets go the manual way.

Mteja hapatikani is when mteja is outside network coverage

The Kiems kit stores the data and continuously tries to retransmit the data automatically when within network coverage or when transmission had failled. These small matters have not been overlooked, its just some people smearing reputable companies

Tukutane kwa debe

Guys, the Safaricom-Safran Morpho link is a figment of JaKuon’s imagination. There is nothing there.

On the issue of capacity, do not allow yourself to be easily duped into believing that Kenya’s voting population can exert overwhelming demands on a processing system. We don’t have info on what technology Safran uses but we can make some inferences.

E.g. outer boundary is 20m. Breath is 6!. Now you assume x number of simultaneous hits per sec. From that you can guesstimate the system load. Of course all of this is conjecture with nary a fact (on their system capacity) but the point is that the max load can be calculated and accounted for (you still will have wild cards like coverage and availability).

The alternative (manual) is worse because humans cannot be standardized to have the same, exact response to a given challenge every single time. My opinion is that since we have a very difficult time trusting something that we don’t understand, we are easily convinced that technology is bogus. In fact what are ‘bogus’ are the people utilizing that technology.
