Safaricom Thibitisha

So nowadays your has to be at close proximity with the agent’s till for any transactions to go thru. Whether you are withdrawing or depositing. This KYC thing has gone a game higher. Which technology do they use to achieve that? Are we being tracked unknowingly?

They use mast to track… So my guess, you have to be on the same mass as the agent…

The real fear is with the agents. Depositing or withdrawing to someone who is not near your outlet makes the lose commisions and face a fine too. So ukiulizwa kama uko na ID na huna anakataa transaction yako usiulize maswali.

actualy hata ID haisaidii kwa hii, The transaction bounces with a “Failed” message sio agent kukataa. Even withdrawing to an mpesa iko mbali na wewe haiendi.

It’s real out here my nigga. Kuna mpesa nilienda, tu-slay queen tukaingia alafu tukasema ni kuwithdraw, mzae wa hapo akasema sawa. Kumbe tufala tumetumia sijui ni sponsor agent number alafu akawithdraw akiwa kedo 10 kilometres away. Wueh, wacha mzae agundue, ali-reverse hiyo transaction teke teke, huku akisomea hao wachichana vile wamemkosea. At some point karibu alie akiwa-explain-ia vile mpesa yake inaeza fungwa.
Nikajiambia kumbe si kanjo na music copyright society pekee zinaogopwa na wafanyi biashara.

sahi hata hiyo transaction hainge go thru

Labda wanatumia NFC technology. Does it work even for people with mulika mwizi? Coz I suspect the agents have been issued with NFC enabled devices. Kama simu yako pia inasupport hio technology na ifail ku-communicate na device ya agent, hapo anajua hii ng’ombe haiko karibu.
I’m just guessing though. Kenyatalk Technology Experts watatuelezea zaidi.

It must be some sort of location service, juu kwa agent anaambiangwa “the customer is not in the shop”

The local Mpesa girl[who half the hood wants to kamua] told me so. Thought ni story. What kind of sorcery is this, @jumabekavu priss explain

but their location services dont use GPS, as in the case of smart phones. So the only known way is mast. Ama vipi?

Wanatumia masts, natumia mlika mwizi, but they are issuing new sims to the Agents.

Lazima iwe hivo, but kama uwa possible kutrack watu wanatumia mulika mwizi kwa cases za robbery na murder lazima safcom wawe na tech inaeza pata location ya pia hizo… Mi sijui haya maneno lakini

Forget kyc and the anti money laundering bullcrap. They are simply safeguarding their earnings. Remember you don’t pay to deposit, but they pay the agent for that transaction. They earn when you send that money to a recipient. Same case to withdrawals.
How they do it? Mast triangulation. Agent and client phone must be under the same cell for transaction to proceed.

And how does it work when your phone is off na umedepositiwa?

Operators use cell triangulation to determine your location to within approximately 100m radius. Even when your fone is off, it still sends signals to nearest cell towers informing its location. Thats why kwa movies watu hutoa battery or smash their fone. Probably the same technology they use with mpesa

…To add on to that, Safaricom has been installing pretty nifty cameras onto their agents’ shops mostly in Nairobi and other towns. Very nice little 1.4mp HD . They are monitoring almost everything.

Each cell tower is normally geotracked by the service provider and whenever you communicate or transact your activities must go through that particular cell tower/towers within your location.

Naona Ka nyote mko wrong coz am guessing one cell tower can serve a very wide radius and within that radius there are a thousand Mpesa agents. Does it mean unaeza withdraw from any of those agent ata kama hauko karibu???

Mulika mwisi itakupea lokeshen my friend.
Even with the old sim

That KYC imefunga loophole zangu flani but a friend says alitoa from nbi akiwa chepalungu… Dunno how true that is…
