Satisfaction from business OR employment.

This morning I read a post and while replying to @747Captain insinuation that Mogoka lowers ones Social ‘class’ see https://www.kenyatalk.com/index.php?threads/drugs-and-success.106078/ I realized that wueh!! That was a rant.

Why is it that formally employed pple esp bankers, medics, civil servants always think that traders are not ‘it’.
Boss, we’ve been there, done that. While in employment (banking) I always found it absurd back then that a trader with a potential enterprise plus a Million worth of investment had LESS leverage in a borrowing platform than a civil servant with a net pay of 20K.(things have changed since then). But it was annoying and frustrating to decline a facility to a business guy who has more potential and approving the same for GOK employee, whose potential is just a Gov payslip.

I swore to leave and get into business.I did.
The straw that broke the camel’s back was an incident I worked for a mhindi. When I wrote a proposal for a project and he approved, we didn’t have support staff for the technology end.So he was recruiting.I gave heads up to a former colleague (we had worked on a similar project). He applied and came tops, was recruited.

What this mhindi didn’t know is that we knew each other from before (I asked him not to mention the project that we had worked on together before, and he also didn’t include it in his CV). We got shocked when the mhindi called me to his office and asked me to spy on my colleague and be reporting his every move.I told my friend what’s happening and we decided to play it cool. Shock on us, the next day he was also asked to spy on me and report daily, akakuja akaniambia.(I was technically his boss, so that mhindis action also shocked me).Huh! So we were to spy on each other and report daily.

We lost faith in that guy, and decided to sabotage the project. My guy looked for a job and quit, a week later as he was looking for a replacement (I was just waiting for my pay), nikamrushia laptop na nikaenda. With all the backups and passwords and crucial data.It was Ok to serve the fucker a cold one.
(That SOB was as cold as F.
I remember one time we are at Hilton for DisCorp, an intl fest for movie n media pple, he admonished us thoroughly for taking an extra 10 mins during tea break but Maaaannnnn, how could we not savour all those snack servings banae hahahah!)

My satisfaction is drawn from the independence I have while running my biz.
From laying down my rules to making decisions, to opening hours.
I get to decide whom to hire and fire(and bang), which supplier to work with, whom to bank with.Period!

The only rules I abide with ni za serikali.sii za mtu yeyote! We may not be at par with formally employed pple when asking for loans but boss, of late we had known how to circumvent that.

What draws your satisfaction? Being under Employment? (Assured salary, colonization n discrimination, risk of being fired etc) OR self-employment (No assured salary, independence, being BOSS)???

boss kuna vacancy kwa kampu yako?

Am in agribusiness supplies(sorghum for KBL)-can you source for a market?.Also dry cereals maize, millet etc
Also in the service industry(hotel n club)-can you do events? CCTV & systems installations.
Also we do home control systems (automations).See www.techhomeea.co.ke

Think of how you can make money on deals.
Choose ur forte and holla

How did you start

I offer CCTV & systems installations. maybe we can partner

In times of crisis it’s probably safer to be an employee on payroll. If this coronavirus keeps going on for months and months, reinventing yourself to match current realities will be crucial.

Start what?

I beg to digress.
My better half is on 10% (plus insurance) pay due to this Corona pandemic as the employer is not making money.
But we in business, though it ain’t BAU, we can survive.

Hehehe this is a good response. Let him show you how he can add value to your business akiwa inje si kuandikwa tu drawing salary at the end of the month.

That website isn’t working

I have done both self employment and employment. NOTHING beats self employment…If you are focused and your motivation is money then leave that job of yours and start self employment

Umetuchocha but ni sawa tuu. Why are you overestimating your importance to society? Well sikatai about the independence that comes with self employment but it exists in a framework. We also run our hustles and i would wish to challenge you on the assertion that you only follow your rules and no one else’s except the govt. You see son, self employment requires a lot more discipline than formal employment. Contrary to your claim that self employed people answer to no one, you answer to your clients and strategic partners not unless kama unaoperate kibanda. Your clients will for example set strict deadlines that you cannot give an excuse for failing to beat. You insist on your “rules” hivo ndio unakuwa replaced.

Bro am not estimating my importance.I also don’t deny that a framework exists.Thwre are rules of the game and YES, I adhere to.
Coz I know if I don’t, Al b phased out.
My customer is King. We answer to them.
Practical example is where as a biz guy, you can offer a small discount for a repeat customer OR for a huge order. It happens.
