Scrap metal entrepreneur

Am very worried for scrap metal dealers around Mariakani and its environs after the Chinese built sgr vandalism incident. As a former scrap metal dealer, please RUN for your lives entrepreneurs…this is my story.

After I was done with studies I found myself hanging alot with friends pale mtaani. Kevo, Mose, Mwas and I tulikua jobless and what we did best was sit all day on some wooden bench outside the youth recreational hall tukipiga story. We all lived with our parents back then so almost kila kitu we were being provided for. Ile kitu tulikosa tu ni doh ya rave on weekends, those days ilikuwa form weekend ni kushuka tao jam session mchana then by evening msharudi. Now it happened that on this particular Friday we were all broke while at the same time anticipating for Sunday's jam session. We came up with ideas on how we should generate some quick genuine money but none added up.. Suddenly,Mwas stood up from the bench smiling and begun to address us," Wasee mnaonaje tukisaka mascrap metals na masufuria zimetoboka tukazipime pale kwa Babuu?" pointing to the direction where some old guy we nicknamed Babuu bought waste metals after he had weighed them. It was such a genius idea from Mwas and we all agreed to go fetch the scrap metals from our homes and meet in the afternoon at our usual bench where we were to combine our 'goods' then head to Babuu's place for bussiness.
Back at home I remember filling a big sack with empty metallic tins, some rusty broken jembes and a few unused sufurias (that made me get a beating of a life time later on). So in the afternoon we all reassembled kwa base yetu each carrying a sack with the 'goods' and without wasting time tukaenda kwa Babuu. On reaching, he took all the sacks and emptied them into a one big sack which was opened at the top and had ropes similar to zile chondos wamama hubeba. He took sometime perusing the metals and tins then lift the big sack hooking its ropes to the weighing machine. Mzigo ilikuwa 62kgs and he quickly handed Kevo sh2356 which we later found out that a kilo went for sh38. We all left Babuu's place smiling so hard vle tilikuwa tumeuwa kenge and we had more than enough to cater for the four of us. Expenses zilianza kwa bus fare( izo days ilikuwa 40 bob from Ngong to Nairobi), entrance fee ya jam ilikuwa 100 per head na drinks haikuwa lazima although when u had some extra cash you could get served with Napoleon and a soda.
Ffwrd to Sunday and we were all set for this big day, leaving for town at around 10 in the morning. It all went good and we still had some few coins remaining after jammin' the whole Sunday out. We were headed to a new week looking foward to having yet another good rave on Sunday..........hapa ndio bussines ideas zilianza. ...to be continued..........
