They made a wave pool in order to shoot the realistic ocean scenes in the Life of PI. This is an interactive webpage showing you how they did it and more behind the scene shots. You need computer to see this though. Don’t try it on your phone. Story + Mousewheel = Scrollytelling.

Everything about it is fascinating
i haven’t seen the movie, i just didnt find the plot compelling enough to watch it. But I was aware that the VFX company behind it went belly up. that was a good short documentary, cheers @kiki for putting it up.
