SGR Vandalism

From BD Daily

“Vandals have carted away materials worth Sh1.2 billion from the Nairobi-Mombasa standard gauge railway (SGR) line in the last five months, compromising the safety of passengers who ride on the trains.”

“Losses caused by vandalism and stealing activities are estimated at over Sh300 million per month since the train was launched on June 1,” said Sia Li, head of public relations at CRBC. “The most targeted items are steel bars, electricals and signals facilities.”

Safe to say Kenyans we are our own worst enemies.

Hio figure looks fake, kenyans no longer care about the wellbeing of the community. The only thing they care about is about themselves

Waanze kukatwa mikoni kiSaudia? I’m sure most of the vansalism involves scrap metal.

Haiya!! Same is said of/by the Chinese. Didn’t you watch tha “Sewer Oil” video?

Every body cares for himself, and thats what you should do…

Do you know one the reasons Makueni residents are hostile to the Jubilee government has to do with land compensation issues along the SGR track. Now you can fill in the gaps and know why much of the vandalism is within Makueni County.

hii ni heka SGR tunatembea nayo kila weekend

Kuna GSU huguard hio reli. I doubt the report but if its true then they should use choppers to patrol, pipeline does that with their pipeline

Drones can be cost effective

The culprits are the people that all Hessys need to work on asap and on site. Imagine the train derailing at 180kph!

figures look a bit exaggerated but it was expected. It happens all over Africa when such projects are launched. Gautrain in SA also suffered same fate…points to our selfish nature
its sad that @Mathaais had to politicize this…this is a purely criminal undertaking and culprits should face same punishment that awaits corruption lords…wakenya tumechoka

Not politicizing, it’s the situation on the ground.

1.2billion represents almost 0.5% of the SGR value. Definitely that’s an exaggeration. But I suspect this is a strategy ya kukamua insurance.

Makueni is a very big county and if am not wrong the county is home to the bulk of the line…its therefore highly probable that criminals would likely vandalize areas within Makueni than any other part of the country. Politics aside, these vandals are criminals who should be treated as such…I know our politics is rotten but I don’t think it has degenerated to that level…
