Sheikh Madawa's Empire Continues To Crumble

Kenyan man linked to Sh22m heroin deported from Madagascar

A Kenyan man has been deported from Madagascar after he was linked to Sh22 million worth of heroin that was destroyed in the Indian Ocean in 2015.

(…)

The accused denied that on April 9 2015 at Kilifi yacht yard, they were found trafficking 7.6 kilos of heroin valued at Sh22 million. In 2014, President Uhuru Kenyatta sparked off similar controversy when he supervised destruction of an Iranian ship MV Al Noor, which had been intercepted by the Kenyan Navy off the coast of Lamu with Sh1.3 billion worth of drugs. This was despite the fact that two court orders had opposed destruction of the vessel.

They can cry political persecution all day, but the truth is that the campaign to rid Kenya of the role of transit point for hard drugs began long before Joho affronted the Head Of State. It will not end soon.

And Matiang’i is coming for all the illegal university degrees, whether they have been acquired locally or abroad!

When President Uhuru Kenyatta declared a war on drugs last month, Mabruk Hussein, a drug user commonly known as “mateja”, welcomed his pledge to crack down on barons instead of peddlers.

Hussein, who says he joined the sniffing gang after finishing his primary education, wishes it was easy to drop the drug-sniffing habits.

He reveals that the drugs are distributed by “big men with tinted cars” and they are well known to them and the society.

In 2015 at Mombasa court, Joseph Marwa, who was accused of having Sh100 drugs, confessed to the magistrate that politicians supplied them with the narcotics.

The magistrate was forced to cut him short to stop him from giving out names of their “supplier” in a packed court and ordered Marwa be taken for a mental check-up.

“When they arrest the barons we would not have the product. What remains is for us to drop the habit because if they arrest us, we are of no importance,” Hussein says.

“Drugs have destroyed my life. I’m the black sheep in my family as all my siblings are working.”
