CHICAGO – Police are responding to a shooting near Mercy Hospital that they say has left “multiple victims” and an officer in critical condition.

Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted out a confirmation of the shooting in the city’s South Side, saying, "Reports of multiple victims from incident at 26th and Michigan. Please avoid area.‘’

Christine Calace, a police department spokeswoman, told USA TODAY that preliminary reports indicate shots were fired inside and outside the hospital building. She also confirmed the officer is in critical condition.

Another tweet from Guglielmi said police are "doing a methodical search of Mercy hospital. At least one possible offender is shot.‘’

There were news media reports of a large police presence in the area and mass evacuations at the hospital. Emergency crews were also called in.

James Gray told ABC 7 that he saw multiple people shot: “It looked like he was turning and shooting people at random.”

Mayor Rahm Emanuel is huddling with Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson at city’s public safety headquarters where they are monitoring the events, according to the mayor’s spokesman, Eddie Johnson.

Chicago recorded 762 murders in 2016 and 650 in 2017. The city has recorded 488 murders for 2018 as of Nov. 11, more than any other U.S. city but an 18 percent decline since last year.

Mercy Hospital and Medical Center is a 292-bed medical and surgical Catholic teaching hospital that was established in 1852.

Chances are the shooter is black.(It is after all, the South Side)
The NRA has virtually no presence in the entire state of Illinois.That is because the state has the strictest gun laws in the United States, yes, even stricter than California.It cannot be blamed for this, Obama and other Senators virtually purged it from the state.
As such, you would expect that Illinois would have the lowest gun crime in the country.It has the highest and guess what.California comes at Number 2(Only that California’s gun crime is localized to Latino majority areas like East Los Angeles).
In Texas, Hospital Staff DO have guns and in 2016, the restriction that existed for psychiatric hospitals was lifted.You cannot just show up in a hospital in a place like say Tyler, Texas and not expect to meet fire from the nurses and doctors there. You will be shot. I remember the Sutherland Church shooting in Texas, the shooter was stopped by a civillian.
You will get no such protection in a state like Illinois.Especially in a place like the South Side of Chicago with its 100 shootings and a dozen dead being the average on a weekend.

Even that film poster is a huge metaphor. Beware of the false embrace of the mzungu. A shattered mirage. The gunshot shattering the glass: police brutality on blacks. The knight represents the KKK.

To the director’s the black maid Georgina is the all knowing black woman. The white girl captured all those black men but could only get one black queer lady. Black women know. The scene where she cried evokes the sadness of black woman. Tears and smiles at the same time. Some deep shit going on there. Her little remaining black consciousness wants to save this black man.

(By the way Georgina and Walter had had the brains of the Armitages’ grandparents transplanted in them. They represent the holding on of whites to their parents or rather to their racist roots and superiority complex.)

The running man in the film, Walter, to me represents the trapped black man. He is trapped in darkness and no matter where he runs he can’t get out. This is also shown in the scene where Kaluuya sinks in to the darkness. Black men in America and actually everywhere else are ever sinking into this chasm of helplessness but more so under the white yoke.

In the scene where Kaluuya plugs white stuff into his ears, the white cotton represents the first time the black slave has found some good use for white cotton or white shit. The shit from the mzungu is only good for plugging your ears so you can’t hear him.

In my view the filmmakers chose to use a Ugandan actor (a Ugandan Briton) to be as far removed from the American black experience as possible. He is an Obama of sorts.

An innocent lamb who doesn’t understand the American experience. A lamb ready to follow whitey. An ignorant Obama.

A lamb that is equated to a deer. And white girl’s dad,even says he’d kill every deer (nigger) he could and mount it on his wall.

Your problem is and has always been that you overthink things and jump to conclusions where there is no correlation. Just paranoia or whatever bias is driving your claims/allegations. Are these movies created by a black producer? Last night I was watching the movie , The Wife 2018 about a woman who passed on her work as her husband because the literati of the times couldnt overlook gender in their appreciation of written word, I didnt finish but thing is the husband won a Pulitzer through his wife’s work. Any marginalised group can pass off their work as that of the group with greater privilege in society such as those who enjoy white or male priviledge. The irony of this movie is that its made from a novel with literally acclaim written by a woman. Another movie where a woman passes off her work as her husbands is called Big Eyes 2014,its actually a true story . It follows the story of Margaret and her husband, Walter Keane who took credit for Margaret’s phenomenally successful and popular paintings in the 1950s and 1960s. It follows the lawsuit (and trial) between Margaret and Walter, after Margaret reveals she is the real artist behind the big eyes paintings.Its produced by Tim Burton my favourite producer. His movies are exquisite.I think Ive watched them all.

It seems some folks here just watch films for the entertainment aspects. They have no idea that movies just like books or even paintings have deeper meanings. Deeper themes.

To win an Oscar or a French Cesar the panelists look at the deeper narrative of the film. What statement is your movie making?

Sio entertainment pekee. Only very exceptional writers have a deeper understanding of society.

Get Out is quite exceptional in it’s voice. And the film did win an Oscar for it’s writing… it’s screenplay, it’s deeper meaning.
