Should i purchase Second hand or New Matatu

I want to venture into Matatu business should i buy a new or second hand matatu ?
All your views are welcomed

Buy neither. Thank me later.

If you have to ask, you are not ready. start with cheap second hand matatu.

I second BUY NEITHER…utakufa mapema

Shida ya matatu ni ati kila mtu anataka kukula from it Si makarao,si kanjo,Si dere,si makanga…Alafu kanachapa haraka…
So I hear from guys
But I have a friend who has a new one inampea 70k per month iko na sacco

wachana nayo. start your own matatu sacco instead.

fanya venye @majizee amekwambia

Matatu kama hununui 33 seater mbichi na ukuwe willing kuitumia for 5 years minimum, wachana nayo.

Unaweka route gani kwanza?

Dont go for a 33 seater they have no roi, a second hand 14 seater is better. But if you want a peace of mind avoid it all together matatus hazinanga pesa

Nguruwe anajikaanga na yake mafuta

why 5 years minimum

Kiambu tao route

Why a 14 seater?

A 33 seater which cost about 5 or 6 millions itakuletea 10k per day, lakini if you get a second hand toyota hiace for 700k itakuletea 3k per day with less scrutiny from the cops, do the math

Because the rate of depreciation reduces with time. The best bus to buy ni bus imekaa roady for 2 or 3 years but it must be mechanically sound. Hapa it has depreciated significantly in price, but it has no mechanical issues. Shida ni, hakuna mtu atakuuzia bus kama hiyo juu ile bei anapata atakuwa anaona tu heri kulima nayo juu returns hazijaachana na za bus mpya na mbali. So the next best option ni kubuy mpya na uhakikishe umelima nayo for long juu the first two years pesa yote ni loan na depreciation. From the third year ni faida sasa. Mtu alibuy bus mpya 2012 alimaliza loan by 2014 na saa hii ndio cost za kurepair zimezidi so lazima auzie newbie.

Tricky business, very tricky, everyone earns except the owner, most of the times.
Look at it this way, if you make 10k per day, the driver takes say assuming 2k, conductor 1k, you remain with 7k, service is on you every week, cost about 4k or 5k.
If you make the same gross amount, and cops get your car, the staff get their Same amount but yours is reduced to pay the cops.
I don’t know how to tell you this but, this biz is not for the weak…

True. It also demands a Wakanyama-type personality, mtu kichwa ngumu design fulani who is ready to fight it out with cops, makangas, mechanics and whoever comes between him and his $$. In short, haitakangi mtu sio street-smart ama mtu softie.

how can you fight with your mechanic or cop i think ni kusikizana vile kuko if you fight them utaumia vibaya

Gatoho pale Manchester huchapa madereva mateke na mangumi vibaya sana wakikosa kumletea pesa. A driver once told me.
