The Italian volunteer who was kidnapped in November 2018 in Kilifi has been released and has landed in Italy safely, received by her family flanked by the Italian Prime Minister. She was found some 30 km from Mogadishu earlier (I suppose that was the release deal with the AS). Interestingly, she converted to Islam during her captivity (stockholm syndrome in my view). The surprising thing is that the Italians never mentioned the Kenyan intelligence counterparts, a factor I can attribute to the fact that they may be feeling the lazy corrupt intelligence services in Kenya were maybe responsible in either not finding her or messing during her capture and the events that followed thereafter.
The Italian PM praised the work of their foreign intelligence services, who worked towards her release. It is rumoured that the ransom paid was Eur. 4,000, 000.
