Slippery Slopes

There are some actions, which develop into habits…and as one wise man said, chains of habit are too light to be felt before they are too heavy to be broken. From a man’s perspective, there are some habits that are harder to break than winning the jackpot…once you go down that road, it’s a one way street…you don’t come back. Here are a few I can think of…and most men are victims of one or two.

  1. Drinking/Alcohol abuse:- As I type this, nimekalia sina tabu at my local…and I am guilty as charged. Every man says they will quit each new year…but your guess is as good as mine about what happens.
  2. Smoking:- I know people who have been hospitalized because of smoking, and they still smoke. Unfortunately, unlike beer which is expensive and highly regulated, you can get cigarette s cheaply and smoke any time of the day. Some workplaces even give smoke breaks. Good luck trying to quit…because you will need it.
  3. Using the services of prostitutes :- Most people who use whores are actually married…ironic…right? A man’s operating system is hard wired to fuck any time. With most prostitutes being hotter than their wives, being a “sure thing” because there is no jumping through hoops, coupled with alcohol in the mix, men fuck whores at every opportunity and they can’t stop once it becomes a habit.
  4. Gambling:- Sportpesa owners are laughing all the way to the bank and may continue doing so for a long time. I know a friend who has lost over 200k in gambling this year alone…January and February. Unlike cigarettes or alcohol, gambling is a bottomless pit. You can’t drink 20 beers, you can’t smoke 20 packets …but you can gamble one million in one day. Though it causes no major health problems, it is a highway to poverty.
  • If you are a man and you are not a victim of any in that list, I salute you Sir!*

I am a man… and not a victim to any of those. I wish I could say it’s an achievement; or at least feels like an achievement. But no. It feels unexciting… Just living. Walking on known roads.

Isn’t life unexciting for most people? A routine? I think even for them that indulge in the above it is the same. . .

Really…give me enough cash and I won’t even need friends to have fun.

That list contains some of the most mundane and unexciting preoccupations I have come across.
I occasionally engage in them, especially in my lows, but you have to be really fucked up inside to become addicted to any and find it indispensable.

The only addictive problem for me is internet browsing. Nothing in particular, but just wandering. it has cost me a fortune in business losses. but it only lasts for a period of about three months a year.

Enjoy life, it’s limited and there is probably no afterlife.

Money is good but it’s not everything. It’s just currency, comes and goes. More often it goes. . .

I understand your point…just saying that it causes a TEMPORARY increase in happiness.

Not so. Have struggled with cigarettes but walked away. can never will never consider buying pussy. Gambling never. My demon is tusker.

Don’t be a jerk, am not a victim to.

very true good, genuine company from people is invaluable
