It’s said learning never stops.
Yesterday for the 1st time in my not so short life I learned that a player can actually pass a penalty to another player and it’s all legal and allowed in the rule books.
Whoever has that clip of Messi passing a penalty to Suarez kindly post it here. That’s the stuff legends are made of.

I swear I am downloading that FIFA guide book to affirm this allegation

It’s only when it’s a penalty shot out to determine the winner when the ‘passing’ is not permitted…

How exactly? Isn’t that encroachment?

what if i kicked the ball out of the penalty box to my teammate? the rules dont explicitly say i have to kick at the goal…

Penalties are direct free kicks so no kupass ball

What I always knew is that another player can score from a rebound after the goalkeeper blocks the initial shot.

This is the second time in professional football the “pass penalty” has been allowed. The firsts incident happened in 1982 when Johan Cruyff passed the ball from the spot before receiving it again and scoring. Henry and Pires tried it some time back but failed in the execution.
Players can enter the penalty box after the ball is kicked,so it is legal.

hehehe…
you might be a fake football lover

This is where I know who started watching football the other day. Who doesn’t remember Henry and Pires trying it against Man City (?) in 2005, and failing miserably

what i was not sure if it can be tried during the penalty shoot out after the game. (the five deciders)

Assists from a penalty this season:
Messi: 1 Other 200,000,000+ players: 0
There’s only one Messi.

You can’t try it during the penalty shootout, because the rules state that you can only strike the ball once. So even rebounds are prohibited

Can’t remember that shit, maybe I had blacked out for the weekend, unless of course you have read the comparisons today!

It was a very infamous incident, widely ridiculed at the time. I can even remember that the game had two penalties awarded. One dubious, one undisputable.

Maina Kagayni had an (admittedly) interesting football column in the Pulse at the time. As a fresh high school graduate, I was an avid reader.

this made me laugh though
