RENT RELIEF
While thanking the initiators of the housing project, Ms Njeri, who lost her father and daughter in the tragedy, said the house will save her the hustle of looking for monthly rent which has been her biggest nightmare.
“Now that I have a house, I have decided to put the past aside in order to start rebuilding my life,” said Ms Njeri.
Ms Ann Mumbi on the other hand said her house will give shelter to her and her five siblings whom she takes care of following the death of her mother in the tragedy.
“After the tragedy, our life became very difficult as we struggled to look for rent but at least the burden seems to have been offloaded,” said Ms Mumbi.
Rongai Deputy Sub-County Commissioner Julius Kavita urged the beneficiaries to occupy the houses themselves, warning them against renting them out for profit.
Mr Kavita also cautioned the victims against engaging in cheap politics which he said threatened to stall the reconstruction programme.
The Nakuru County Executive for Trade Raymond Komen was also present, representing Governor Lee Kinyanjui.

Ladies and gentlemen the lives of Kenyans are easily replaceable with a 2 bedroom home.

what would you rather happened?
Doesn’t the survivors quest for justice include a court case that is before a Naivasha court where suspects are out on shs five million each?

I can guarantee you that the court case is practically dead. Non of the heads of that company will see the inside of jail. They will get away with murder.
You endanger lives of people then when they get killed you bribe their families, because this is a bribe, to let the issue go away.
The dam was illegal but the company still held on to it until tragedy struck.

hata heri hizo nyumba coz najua hawange compensetiwa

Halafu utasikia Jubillee government development updates @spear

Ukiona wamejengewa nyumba the case must be very strong against the billionaire owner. Muhindi must have been told he might go to jail but if the victims drop the case then he will avoid jail. Indians are not usually this generous
I know I’m speculating but this is Kenya and we know how things are done

I can fully understand your frustration and pessimism about our justice system, especially the courts…but I have asked you - would you rather they were left alone - to be in a camp for the destitute and therefore a mascot for busybodies who would like to sing the “Justice for Solai Victims” song?
Would you rather the architects of the tragedy were paraded in the market quadrangle and shot or drawn and quartered?

I daresay the houses may not be much, especially for people who lost both breadwinners, but they are a first step to giving the people their lives back. There is no amount of money, nor retribution, that can give the survivors the lives of their dead kin back.

I think the state is the complainant in this case where the accused face 48 counts of manslaughter. The question of victims withdrawing does not arise. What was the DPP’s fears was that if the case continued being heard in Naivasha the witnesses may be intimidated so that they do not come to testify.

:D:D I choose not to answer this one for fear I will reveal my intense desire to see victims of great injustice get instant justice.

Don’t fear. I would especially love to hear your version of the highlighted part.

2 bedroom house na choo iko nje.
Would the Solai owners build their own toilets outside?
Alafu hazina stima na pole imepita hapo tu.

I thought ni picha za That media compaigner

He he he akina Arror Kimwarer apologists liwe Liwalo

Hizo nyumba ni 500K max, much less than the compensation they deserved.

If they decide to drop the case good for them. My hope is that the dam owners will go beyond providing shelter to the victims of the tragedy.

Huyo mhindi ako na roho safi sana. No government official could have resisted his money to kill off the case. @least now they have something. No other kenyan or government agency has ever compensated kenyans for its misdeeds. Kenya pipeline has done atrocities to the people of Kibwezi, and nobody will ever hold them accountable.
God bless that mhindi.

most likely hakuna piped water supply

Stima watawekewa tu…last mile project iko.
You may not know but most of the residents’ houses that were washed away were mud walled.

Zile zilipelekwa na maji zilikuwa en-suite? Shenzi!

…making millions as they endanger Kenyans life ! Human life is priceless.

Grandfather @gashwin put it correctly as always
