Sportpesa

I just watched parliament proceedings and Jakoyo Midiwo just disclosed that sportpesa transacts over 600 million in a day. The company paid just 85 million in taxes last year. That gentleman has a valid point. Why should Kenya borrow such huge loans instead of taxing the betting sin heavily like the way they tax alcohol??Beats logic. All betting companies that are past their infancy should be forced to disclose their income, be thoroughly audited and be taxed heavily like in developed nations. If that fails to happen, expect a more polarized society, with a few dollar billionaires and millions below the poverty line. They will not even need to tarmac roads anymore because they will afford to use choppers 24/7.

Possible if the mps stomachs manage to turn down the ‘lobbyists’

Bearing that the 600 million figure is what the CEO stated in Jeff Koinange Live, I can assure you that the real figure goes past the 1 billion mark…per day. Halafu wanalipa tax ya 85 million for a whole year…the government should tax them at least 50% of the profit and audit them 24/7. Otherwise they will drain Kenyan’s pockets dry. Traditionally, sins get taxed at high rates, and betting is a sin that should attract six tax.

It’s a good course, midiwo’s pia it’s an election year… Pesa ya campaign is in short supply. Atakataa kitita?wacha tuone

hapo nakubaliana nawe kabisaa, hio pesa wakenya wanatupa irudi kwa system.

incoherence is not a sign of intelligence

Safaricom makes around 350m in a day. Their reported annual revenue is just over 195bn with a gross profit of 133bn. Obviously Safaricom understates their profits since if you compare with other telcos outside Kenya of the same magnitude they make over a trillion shillings a year.

But the CEO just stated on the debate with Midiwo that he paid out Shs 700m in taxes in the recently concluded financial year which is still peanuts of course but c’mon 85m:D:D
