Startup idea

#1
Hey Ktalkers, hope mko fiti.

I have an idea of an agriculture startup that am planning to use IoT, machine learning technology to help farmers improve their yields, we are planning to use soil, weather and farm data to help farmers make seamless decisions that will see their yields improve, such as inputs recommendation.
I know there is a lot to be done here. We were thinking of short-term crops, ones that take 3-4 months to be ready.
I know there is someone here who could be familiar with what am talking about, so i wanted to know from you guys, which are (1) Best region to implement such tech (2) Which crops can we best target with such tech and (3) What can we expect as we enter this market.

Your feedback is highly appreciated.

I would suggest crops with a lot of market volatility, weather sensitive, and other uncertainties . Things horticultural like tomatoes for instance. It would also be good to include a market-cost-prediction element if the data is available.

You could start in areas like Kirinyaga, And expect the learning curve to be steep. Perhaps you need to conduct research among the target before deciding how to approach it all.

You are trying to compete with Safaricom's digifarm. I would suggest you try it on your own first then see what you can Improve to leverage on other solutions in the market.

Thanks for that insight.
In the market-cost-prediction am thinking of partnering with companies that provide market prices, i have comvinced several people and its possible under a certain agreement. I was thinking of potatoes farming in Kiambu or other crops in Embu county. The plan we have is to develop the system, implement with like 5 farmers for like 3months and learn from what we shall encounter along the way. From the there we can deploy the sytem fully.

Try it out in rift Valley or Western areas,. I'd advise you to try potato farming since we have a challenge of getting good seeds,. Also majority of the potatoes in Kenya are supplied by it neighbors.

I find that his is very good idea. Any innovation in the field of IoT that can help farmers to increase their production would be very helpful. Still, considering that their earnings are not very high, try to keep price of your invention as low as possible in order to have marketability

Wow, idea of your project is really nice. 3 years ago, I also decided to create something like this and base on my experience to find regions and etc it is difficult, the hardest thing is budget calsulating. I even couldn't predict that there are so many difficulties in this sphere. I was needed to su, everything, to make a prognosis of future expenses. I tried to find how to make it easier and decided to use a Project Budget Proposal from https://tracktime24.com/Blog/free-budget-proposal-template . Information from this website and their template really helps me to built my current company
