Next week, somewhere in Othaya, a gracious lady will be laid to rest. (May she rest in perpetual peace)
Among the mourners, will be one pretender . His presence will be acknowledged and his dramatised tears will be noticed. The event will be peaceful, no one will cause chaos, no hired goons will disrupt the proceedings to discredit the pretender, no sycophants will commandeer the casket to god knows where for some outdated customary rituals, no hooligans will boo mourners, there wont be exaggerated grieving from strangers, there wont be hysterical shrieks in adoration of a perceived father, the event wont be hijacked to hit and mudsling political opponents, no talk of Tsunami, or donkeys or kandenge na mpira, no nyef nyef, ambitious politicians wont almost kneel at the feet of the papa and, the event will be a sober send off to a woman deserving respect .
I wonder what horror would befall my cousin were he and his tribesmen to go for a burial near a lake.? But my cousin always opts not to.
The stark difference between those who feel entitled, and those who feel honoured.
Nothing much will happen, but grown ass men will still troop back to Ktalk to beech and mourn about this single person for the remaining part of their meaningful lives. SMH.
