So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived. (Numbers 21:9).
Jesus is like the serpent Moses lifted up. It is totally illogical to think that looking at a bronze image could heal anyone from snakebite, but that is exactly what God told them to do. The same God of yesterday, today and forever says that if you are in need of anything, just look up to him in faith and receive it.
Greek mythology and modern medicine actually borrowed this imagery from the Bible. I thought that was cool. Think about it: snakes that were biting Israelites is symbolic for that same old devil who inflicts bad fortune.
John 3:14. Jesus indicated that this bronze serpent was a foreshadowing of Him. The serpent, a symbol of sin and judgment, was lifted up from the earth and put on a tree, which was a symbol of a curse (Galatians 3:13). The serpent lifted up and cursed symbolized Jesus, who takes away sin from everyone who would look to Him in faith, just like the Israelites had to look to the upraised symbol in the wilderness. Paul is reminding the Galatians that Jesus became a curse for us, although He was blameless and sinless—the spotless Lamb of God.

In general, the really nice places are white with little diversity. Atlanta, Georgia being the main outlier I can think of. America is so vast that it boils down to family connections or where your job is. What are your options?

I’m assuming your friends won the GC lottery. Otherwise new immigrants do better when they live in the suburbs of a big city (Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore etc). Big cities are diverse, they have tons of opportunities for work and education. After acquring your certifications and learning the intricacies of living in the US, then it’s okay to branch out to the smaller towns where salaries can be higher.
Tell you a secret, don’t go to any red States. Atlanta is one of the worst red state to any immigrant. Go to a state that is warm and friendlier to immigrants. No other better place like Washington State, Oregon or even New York. Most immigrant folks who go there have successful stories. It’s an expensive state in terms of rent and cost of living but median salary is also high. I repeat, avoid red States whatsoever. Things are thick for immigrants in those red States with this current regime. Doesn’t matter if you have papers or not. I will never advocate for anyone to go to a red state.
