Given McGregor's non-existent boxing experience and Mayweather's reputation as one of the finest fighters in history, many observers are already predicting a mismatch.
Mayweather will reportedly be paid over 100 million US dollars for the contest, which will be broadcast on pay-per-view networks across the world.

Mayweather boasts one of the finest records in the history of boxing. After 49 professional fights he has 49 victories, including 26 by knockout. In his 19 year professional career, he was only knocked to the canvas once – by Carlos Hernandez in 2001 – in a fight he won by a unanimous decision.
Mayweather, who was ranked by ESPN as the greatest pound for pound boxer of the last 25 years in 2016, needs just one more win to surpass Rocky Marciono’s flawless record of 49-0.

Let me start by saying that I don't think this fight is going to happen. There is just no way. The UFC will never take the risk of letting their star lose in a Boxing match and Mayweather would never fight in the UFC under MMA rules. But if Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather were to fight in Boxing and MMA what would the fights look like? In Boxing how long would the fight last? In MMA how long would the fight last? I am certain that both fighters would win in their respective sport but personally I see McGregor lasting a bit longer in the Boxing ring than Mayweather in the Octagon.

You underestimate the biggest reason why any high profile boxing or UFC competition takes place. Money and loads of it. Once they agree on that, the rest is simple details. Fans don't care either, the will be excited from the start, pay huge viewing fees and tickets.

The showboating contest between the two would be livelier.
Conor is quick n young but won't bet on him considering boxing has been Money Man's life.
On MMA, I usually think boxers can kill without gloves, those punches man..the only disadvantage to a boxer is the use of many almost the whole body to fight.
It would be interesting tho

Let's not kid ourselves @spear .... In boxing Floyd wins, in MMA Conor wins.... It's a no brainier...
This is why prime boxer and prime MMA fighter will never fight! A washed up boxer could come to MMA to make a few mil like Toney....
You people looking forward to this fight had better chance hoping for UFC champ vs Pride champ mcgregor-mayweather.jpeg

The two are just looking for a big payday. The fight will be boring.

This is obvious. Mayweather wins inside five rounds. In MMA, he would lose in the first or second rounds. In a streetfight, I would give it Mayweather because most MMA moves are hard to apply in real life...most street fights are 90% boxing.

In a street fight Connor would easily win. In such fights only the first blow is a proper one, the rest is usually hugging, push and shove, a bunch of wild kicks mostly etc etc. If Mayweather didn't knock out Connor on the first blow, the later would easily break his hand or leg using a submission technique if Mayweather got too close.
