Apparently, he and other guys were bribed to kill a story casting Sonko in negative light during the Kajiado Central by elections. Sad if indeed this is true and show our media is in bed with politicians.
Tuesday, 21 April 2015-Eloquent Swahili anchor, Swaleh Mdoe, has been suspended over corruption dealings together with other seven staff members who work in the Swahili desk at Citizen TV.The other Swahili journalists suspended include, Mwanahamisi Hamadi, Shishia Wasilwa, Kimei Arap Kimeli and Yusuf Ali.
Swaleh and his fellow journalists are alleged to have received a bribe from Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, to kill a story and destroy video evidence of an incidence in which he was nearly killed by angry mob over bribery claims during Kajiado by-election.
Apparently, their corrupt dealings were known after they openly fought for the money Sonko had dished out to them.
The no-nonsense Royal Media Managing Editor, Wachira Waruru, has decided to suspend Swaleh and his team pending investigations.
Kanze Dena and Lulu Hassan, who mostly feature on the weekend bulletins, will replace Swaleh Mdoe and Mwanahamisi Hamadi for the time they are under suspension.
Corruption within mainstream media stations is rampant and most prominent journalists collude with politicians to kill negative stories. They are under fat cheques but for Swaleh Mdoe and his team, their proverbial forty days had finally reached.
Not sure lakini it could be true. Many Kenyan print and broadcast journalists are on the take from politicians and senior managers of blue chip companies.
