sweet vendors in your highways

For those who commute to work on a daily basis, you may have noticed a sudden influx of these traders in your highways or streets. So a while back I was thinking through a business model where the vendors on the streets would be involved given their daily interaction with commuters. I won’t go to details on what we discussed or tried out, but one thing I learned from my interaction with these vendors is that they take home at least 5k a week (Mon - Fri) and most are employed elsewhere. The returns were not as skewed as I expected, but seemed higher than I thought , something that made me rethink my biz model. In my quest to see how best to fit my biz model, I tried engaging different people at different times. Surprisingly I met a lady who’s set up a stall somewhere in Roysambu - she and I have interacted before and so we got to discuss about the sweet selling venture. According to her, she sells sweets in the morning coz of the quick returns and later heads to her stall for the rest of the day. From our discussion, the figures she issued were also in sync with the rest. So what’s my point here - selling sweets pays and better than idling and stealing from industrious citizens of the republic.

5k a week is hardly money to live on. If you can do that for a few months or years while saving part of that money, at least 5-10k you can then try and purchase maybe a motorbike and start a delivery service. Basically step by step growth.

I guess, we learnt that for those who are consistent, they can make something out of it from the gakuyo shit show where he robbed them significant amounts of money

True - but please note I mentioned that most seemed to have a main hustle. In any case, I am sure there are numerous people who thrive on that if not less a week. Think of it, guys who are on salaried employment and earn about 30k a month - I am not sure they are any better than these guy who makes that amount Mondays through Fridays even not taking into account their other hustle. The only bit salaried people would have an advantage is benefits that come with employment such as medical covers etc.

My friend, most of them are undercover cops, police informers and CIDs. I met one who was selling mahindi choma at bamburi.
Few can survive on selling sweets rejareja and afford life in Kenya.

Interesting - I had not looked at it from this perspective. When you say most of them - how did you arrive to this conclusion?

Been around long enough… Ukisikia serikali iko na mkono mrefu, its true. Unsuspecting jobs kama hizo huwa wanajenga data base ya criminals or secure an area and act as first responders if hell breaks loose. Kuna mpaka wendawazimu. Intelligence tuko nayo sio mbaya.

This one lives in an ivory tower with all the other home guards … making 20 K a month is more than most common wananchi make ! why would you say such an ignorant comment …

It’s @denis young - the village billionaire :D:D
