Talker's how hard is it to get a liquor production license?

Wadau I have a friend of mine who have been making high quality homemade moonshine (150% proof).
He started the whole thing out of interest/hobby and now I’m seeing a business opportunity.if we get the licence I’m willing to fund the initial phase which includes buying a 50lit still, leasing a premise etc.so wadau saidieni elder hapa…

Try your county’s liquor board they license the sale and production in counties.offcourse thats after you do the normal company registration

Keep doing it illegal… the profits are yours for keeps…

Very helpful , thanks bro

No whatever he’s making can compete with belvedere, grey goose in terms of flavour and quality,we want to do it the legal way and shine .

I think what @HABILIS has said is the right way to do it. Doing it legally is not feasible. Utakuliwa pesa mingi na bado you will pay bribes. So far sijawahi sikia mtu amefungwa juu ya illegal alcohol production bora haijaua watu. People have been drinking muratina and busaa for ages. There is so much red tape utalia ukijaribu kuifanya legally. Halafu usisahau the govt takes ages before completing a simple process…you know how the government works. Before you complete that process mwaka itakuwa imeisha.

Naeza wekelea kichwa kwa biz? Uongezee another 50lt?

vile @HABILIS amesema… otherwise utakamuliwa na gava ukijaribu kuifanya legal

150% proof is still feasible considering the normal abv here in Kenya is about 40-45%, even if we do it illegal way we’ll still be paying astronomical bribes every few days.
Can you give me a simple estimation of how much we will pay for the license plus the bribes…

We want to start small so I think 50lit for now is enough…

How long do you think it will take for your “company” to be cleared to manufacture alcohol?? Ukianza hiyo process leo itaisha 2022 :D:D Good luck with that. It is expensive (probably millions), takes millenniums, and is controlled by cartels. In fact, I would advice you guys to open a wines and spirits shop first and push your moonshine hapo alongside other legal drinks. That way, you learn more about the industry first instead of diving headfirst to the deep end of manufacturing.
