Back in dem days we used to see adolescent in its peak and it was like a rite of passage for all. The days where pimples, break of voice, ladies shyness and breast development on one side. The Adams apple appearance and that time “Mzazi angesema its time you have your own room uko or something.” When boys can now protect their sisters cox they have come of age.
Its either life of GMO's has changed this fact or I am just not paying attention to my surroundings. These days they grow so fast and boom they have breast and no signs to show how it came but its there. The menstrual cycle comes earlier than later and men are all active ready to spread the "white alert in form of peanut butter and jelly." At 16, boys and girls know it all while some of us who are 30+ have done less of what these children have done.
The thinking and cognitive skills they posses is just different, the way they understand its like their own brain function was also altered with time. The Sexual exploration of the today child is yet different but necessary for them to feel mature. Poor decision making skills where parents are blamed for lack of intervention. Social media is friendship till one notices they have no true physical friends or shoulders to lean on and that's when thoughts of unwantedness, suicide and other imaginations dim in slowly. This has even played a bigger contribution to how older adults reason today since; many are refusing to man up and act based on their ages to a point they further mess the upcoming generation. No mentors and no one to guide the lost sheep while the shepherds are also devouring the very lost sheep.
Its a fact that, years back parents had power and children were just children who even their way of life and biological growth was peaceful as their upbringing. But today the harsh reality of life together with poor resources, food distributions, finances and theories of the world; have generally ruined the true perceptions of how everything grows and determines what it becomes. From teenage pregnancies to single parenting, from GMO's to cancers, from the first world to the third world, from Sex to aids, from love to violence and above all; FROM A MOTHER'S WOMB TO AFRICAN SOIL A CHILD IS BORN. They say Africa is the cradle of man kind, but it seems they forgot how its the cradle of man problems.
N/B: I miss those days where the worst diseases in Kenya was just lack of a new suit or dress for Christmas and if your Sunday best was ruined so were your chances to impress your crush.
