Ondiri Swamp in Kikuyu, this swamp is the source of Nairobi river
You've taken me far munene....... I don't know what is the fascination that drunks have with that Swamp..... I remember one incident tukitoka kunywa ng'ang'o kwa Auntie Kyuks, we decided to access the school via the school farm (hiyo place unaona miti mob) rather than use the gate tusijulikane........ It was scary......ukikanyanga ni kama bouncing castle and there were unverified stories that those that drowned in Ondiri, their bodies were never recovered, aside from few lucky victims whose bodies would be found in Lake Naivasha.

Sijawahi sahau....... umefika kati kati pombe na fangi zinashuka and all you see are small puddles of water...... Watu hutoka mbali

I have heard of this too but no one has ever verified it. I've always asked which way the water flows. If its the source of the water to Nairobi, why then would bodies be found in the opposite direction of Naivasha. I suspect those were old housewives tales to discourage ihii's from venturing there.

Moi had banned reggae music, you risked being jailed kaa ungeshikwa nayo, this explains the euphoria of the early 90's when the airwaves were liberalized na reggae ikatamba kila mahali. Kumbuka king lions akicheza young little girl by Don Carlos
So many pieces falling into place. Nimeelewa sasa

Stag’s Head Hotel_ Nakuru. 1962
Moi did a King David and Uriah the Hittite act on the post-colonial owner of this hotel. when the owner refused to sell him at a throwaway price he got the public health department to close down the hotel on grounds that it's sewer was faulty. it was eventually brought down when the owner gave up and reincarnated as the current Merica Hotel which took forever to rebuild.
it was one of the colonial era hotels that include pig and whistle in meru, nanyuki's sportsman's arms, nyeri's outspan, eldoret's wagon wheel, naivasha's Bells Inn (now La Belle Inn), Embu's Izaak Walton Inn.....you can add others....., . if you asked me the names should never be changed as part of the country's history.....
