There was this story of a djini which appeared in front of a ferry in the middle of the Likoni Channel in early or mid 80’s.This made the pilot to stop the ferry because it was feared if the djini was knocked the ferry would sink mysteriously. The djini was in the form of a man with arms akimbo wearing a white vest. He was visible from the waist upwards. His lower parts were submerged. He was quiet and gazing right ahead oblivious of the approaching ferry. people were wondering if the man had legs long eough to stand on the seafloor and the upper part of his body be above the surface of the water at the same time. Or did he have normal leg length but was just floating?.It was said the djini stayed in that state for two hours untill two cows were slaughtered and their blood poured into the water only then did the djini man sink slowly and disappeared. I heard some Digo old wazees were the ones who came up with that successful idea. Now the ferry could cross the channel. I did not go to Likoni to see the dJini but I saw the story in Taifa Leo newspaper the following day. They had managed to take a photograph of the dJini
For those of you who grew up in Eastlands in the 80’s you are definitely familiar with Torino grounds in Mbotela estate. Many a football tournaments were played here come rain come sunshine
