Tech Bloggers

I follow a few tech bloggers on YouTube and somethings I’ve always wondered, do they get the products for free from companies to review them, or do they pay for them? Are they allowed to critique or even destroy the devices they get? Mobile world Congress is coming up where the phone makers reveal their next flagship gadgets and there are tech bloggers who will review up-to 10 phones, then go on to review speakers, televisions, cameras and all other gadgets including vehicles. Do they get all those for free?

This guy reviews basically every tech!!!

Mostly they do the reviews for cash…i have been in contact with some of them to review a product which is at beta now and they all ask for cash…the first question they will always ask you is “what is your budget”

No. No he does not. I watch him for two reasons: 1. Quality vids. 2. He’s very calm when talking about things unlike some YouTubers out there…

OEMs mostly send them free stuff. The ‘free’ advertising they get from YouTubers is worth much more than the single item they might have given them for ‘free’.

Yeah mkbhd only reviews gadgets he’s been sent and those that he owns. His videos are great but his focus is too narrow. For instance he only reviews iPhone and it’s versions, Google phones and Galaxy S/Note. Other manufacturers never feature unless in passing.

Most get em for free.

Jerry Rigs Everything buys rhem with his own money and breaks them up or open them

He reviews shoes, 4K and 5K TV sets and camera, can see Beats by Dre earphones, Tesla, Google home, Alexa by Amazon must have quite a lot of gadgets if he buys them with his own cash, YouTube must pay well

Average ball park figure they ask? And are there Kenyan tech bloggers and when do they get their hands on these devices?

They are given gadgets for test purposes and reviews but they usually send them back. Occasionally they are given to keep.
But you have to have a huge following for companies to send you stuff for review.

Anything from $500-5,000.But one thing you can be sure of is that one way r the other you have to spend some cash to get your product reviewed or featured. There are a few Kenyan tech bloggers but i don’t think they carry that much weight.

when starting they usually buy the gadgets once they get a big enough audience they get them for free

Shoes -Nike request, 4K monitors (not TVs) he got free from LG I think/on his desk build by fellow YTer. He owns the damn Tesla. Got invited by Google for the Walk-in store in NY, etc.
There are lots of stuff out there he never touches: TVs, Gaming consoles, cameras(Nikon/Canon), headphones from other manufacturers like TurtleBeach or Sennheiser. He dwells too much on smartphones (Apple and Samsung), Tesla and his Red Epic. If he does something a little different is probably something he already owns… like a microphone etc.

And yeah… with millions of views he’s getting some serious pennies.

MKBHD must get a tone of free gadgets with 4M± subscribers

No where near Lew (Unbox Therapy), though.
