Am just wondering why Telkom Kenya is called "Telkom". Why was it given that name after the split of KPTC?

is there a relationship between Telkom Kenya, Telkom SA and Telkom Indonesia.

Those are the only 3 " Telkoms" I could find on the net.

Telkom Kenya was previously a part of the Kenya Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (KPTC) which was the sole provider of both postal and telecommunication services. In 1999 KPTC was split into the Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK), the Postal Corporation of Kenya (POSTA) and Telkom Kenya.

Telkom(SA SOC Limited) is a a wireline and wireless telecommunications provider based in SA operating in more than 38 countries across the African continent,Kenya being one of them since waaaaay back in th 40's, The word 'Telkom' is used harpharzadly to mean a phone company rather than a comms service provider more like the word 'cutex' to mean nail polish rather than a cosmetic company named thus.
Other examples are Jacuzzi,Jetski,breathalyzer,chapstick,pingpong,rollerblade,scotchtape,tupperware,dumpster,Xerox---dead?,remember formica desks? and lastly Google---we say googling but its actually searching ,all companies that provide other stuff
