Thailand may cancel a $400 million deal to buy a Yuan-class submarine from China—because the sub has no engine. China signed an agreement with Thailand that stated the sub would have a German propulsion system, but failed to secure the engine first. The German manufacturer refused to sell the engine because of the EU weapons embargo imposed on China. Thailand has rejected the proposal to have a Chinese-made engine installed instead.
