The Rise and Fall of Nokia

Just watched this 3 part documentary. Nostalgia seeing Nokia 3310. Nokia ruled the world but poor strategic decisions fukced them up. they were victims of their own success. Believed so much in themselves that when Android came along a top Nokia manager said Android is like :pissing in your pants form warmth during winter" (who’s the biatch now, helllo?). But the corruption that might have gone on starts when Nokia gets into a deal with Microsoft. Did Microsoft send a trojan horse into Nokia? $18M for the trojan horse. Boardroom drama.

Nokia was going to die if it didn’t evolve the way microsoft and samsung has evolved but Somebody killed nokia in exchange for saving his own skin.

-Samsung also wants to ditch android and embrace this operating system called “Tizen”. And samsung is also merging with blackberry. I foresee the end product being one sick gadget.

Nakumbuka kitambo Nokia ndio ilikua kusema. Everybody was like; “which make is your new Nokia handset”. Then came android; nokia disappeared like a customer who owes a sabina joy hooker Cash after a night of endless dry fry. Just because of that guy who said naaah; android is cat piss; you see? Your sales which have died over the years is what’s cat piss.

The “Tizen” os being embraced by Samsung employs features found in Android, windows and IOS. lets just say it combines all of em. Sisi developers hapa sasa pia ni chance ya kukulia; ive seen em appications of Tizen in youtube. Looks kinda complicated; si mteremko making an app.

Locally Nokia ignored the dual phone market. Samsung came with cheap and quality dual phones and swept Nokia off the market.

@Hash_Tag ulizaliwa North Pole juu hiyo Coriolis Effect kwa kichwa chako ni ya hali ya juu?

where Samsung is taking us is a world where all your gadgets have to be from one source. Tizen will also be on their smart TV (Sony is sticking with Android.) So you will need a samsung phone home theatre and screen

Same story with Kodak. Once a mighty company that ignored the digital revolution at their own downfall

There are already Tizen phones. Who has one? It’s going to be a struggle considering Android and IOS are always being worked on. Windows 10 for smartphones might also have great features.

@gashwin unasemaje mkubwa?

Heheh; kodak didnt even predict the digital revolution that took place na hizo films zao. Being outbid by even Fuji. Si Fuji imewapita hata! To make it worse; their stocks were delisted from New york stock exchange; jobs lost, manufacturing plants and labs shed. Mashida mob aaaih!!!

That’s why R&D is vital. Don’t be too confident that your product is the best. Watch the trends and innovate, be ready to adapt because competition is unforgiving.

watch the docu. Nokia’s strength was R&D having fully focussed on phones. they used to spend $5B on that alone much more than what all phone companies spend. Nokia produced the first SMS-enabled phone, first phone games, Snakes (Jake the snake) but they still went under. all aspects must roll in tandem R&D, marketing, strategy etc.

Nokia had a very bright future due to its dominance but turned a blind eye to change how sad…

Hata Hummer ya GM had to be closed down. American auto makers never got it right with fuel efficiency.

Kitambo nilikuwa natambua Motorola. Hungeniskizia. kwanza vile motorola razr ilitoka wacha tu!!!

I guess it’s because they never (before recently) had a problem with fuel prices.

And they could not compete internationally with European and Asian auto makers.
