They say that for most nilote/bantu tribes in kenya/Uganda there is a similar one in Sudan with the same culture and language.
A story is told that during the peace process for Sudan… the late Garang held numerous sessions with retired President Moi in State House …the Kenyans were always wondering why the Garang delegation was always ahead on the negotiations and would anticipate their every move…it wasn’t until after many months when the negotiations had been concluded and Garang while having tea with Moi called out one of his Bodyguards’ and asked him to greet Mzee…and it was with utmost consternation when the aide conversed with Moi in fluent Tugen dialect…and told him how they used to eavesdrop on their informal sessions when the Moi and his aides would consult in their native kalenjin to plan their next course of action
