The undeniable improvement of toyota diesel engines

Perhaps some of you ran here expecting an audi and the likes or the actros for that matter but am gona talk about something entirely diffrent today.
I just went upcountry a few days ago to see how my great family is doing kufika tu pap i called my childhood friend whos is a principal in some highschool to tell him am around and asked him if we could do some catch up since its been long. The fella told me" hey bro wea you at ?. I told him i just got home " am coming over need you to see see something" he said
A couple of minutes the guy akaingia kwa compound na hiio gari apo juu. Kupiga story i found out he had just bought it like a month ago and its for his businesses. So we scheduled that i was gona test drive it a day after since was tired kukula raondi

Now siku ilfika, its an auto soo driving it was no rocket science. So am gona talk about kitu ilinishangaza saaana. Apart from hideous interior which consisted of resonating grey and black plastic on the dash board - (whats with toyota with these plastics bythe way they were everywhere) ,an extremely crapy audio system i have seen in a car yet( maybe toyota knew huyu jamaa atabebea kuku) this toyota hiace commuter van on the brighter side had reasonably comfortable from seats( it had only front seats) ,good driving position and it rode so well
What got my attention which is the purpose of this thread is the diesel engine. Didnt knw toyota has improved this much. I have always had this misconception that audi, bmw and mercs have diesel engines in their saloons just bcoz the are able to make them quiet, powerful and rattle free but i guess i was wrong. One thing you will notice is how quiet this engine is , the annoying diesel engine rattle is gone not completely bt its unbelievable how minimal it is.

No smoke - whats a diesel engine without smoke someone might ask but sikuona moshi kwa hii, the van was clean just like petrol. We hit the road and the acceleration was great, it suffered from tubro lag but not so much, its attained speeds of 100 km/h with very little effort. I also liked the very big side mirrors which is unlike what you get on our saloons, its like you facing nyuma using them. When you close the windows road/tyre noise is soo minimal, i couldnt get to terms that this is just a van ment for bussiness built wth such great keeness to detail
What i didnt like was the breaks, it felt like zinakulika when breaking from highspeeds and the car also felt big. BUS-LIKE to be precise, so despite the accurate steering, overtaking or kuhepa a pothole felt like alot of exercise.
I think toyota should get people these refined engines to their sedans. I know you can get some from UK espesially the avensis.
Above all i thank mato for having given me a chance to drive the damn thing. 90% of us here might have never had a chance to drive one, you have no reason to but then again there you have it that was my experience

If you ever doubted Toyota engines, you must be alien to cars. And no, diesel engines do not and should not produce smoke.

na za Tata?

Tata sio gari bwana.

What is the advantage of a diesel engine in a Toyota sedan? The fuel economy argument may not hold because the difference in cost is 10 bob per litre.

I may understand if one wants more power in low gears but is that good enough reason?

walitoa wapi pesa ya kubuy Jaguar Land Rover?

i have driven lots of cars bt the only diesel nishai drive used to be some hilux zile za kitambo… this is the first time after very long time am driving a diesel

Boss. Pedestrian comments notwithstanding, cheki balance sheet ya Jaguar Land Rover since Tata buy, utaipea heshima.

16km/l but driving and audi A6 2500 cc tubro charge. even a premio will have a problem giving you this amount of fuel economy. with 204 hp

With the Audi and 320d Beamer sijakataa efficiency yake. My emphasis is Toyota diesel vs petrol, if the difference is commensurate with service frequency considering most guys who buy Toyota 1500 cc and below are mostly looking at no-frills-locomotion

Either wewe ni peasant hukua unajua about Toyota diesel engines, the likes D4D, 5L,7L etc or birrionaire mwenye amezoea TDI za Audi, Landrover etc.

I have driven both hilux na Hiace 7L recently. Still the 7L wins hands down. Cc @Luther12

hii ni kenya we stick to petrol… but the day pesa itanitembelea audi A6 tdi or mer E350 Cdi wil be the way to go. i have never experienced the D4D which i believe iko kwa prado na hilux the 5L n 7L is like the one drove iguess.

whats the diffrence btn 5l and 7L?

Audi A6 4.2 TDI, Twin turbo, mambo mbaya. Tulifukuzana na a friend , him with A6 na mimi na Mark X, hapo ndio nilijua gari ni engine sio body.

kuna kitu huelewi ya gari ya diesel. uliza @gashwin

you made a fool of yourself to try and race him. the UK hunger for diesels is insatiable… its not easy to get a petrol engine huko… i sure do know thez a secret with diesels…nikipata 3.5 CDI or 2.8 tdi ivi… with a consumption of like 14km/l will zurura hii kenya mpaka watu washangae

box sio guzzler btw. 5L inakunywa diesel kama chai.
Box ni poa but kama ni mat then io engine yake lasma uingalie after s/time ukicompare na 5L engine which was hard to break.

@gashwin tena?
Huyu ni anthropologist if I remember well
