Police Officers Busted After Stealing Sh 800,000 From Mali International

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Flying Squad officers on Wednesday busted police officers in connection to a robbery of Ksh 800,000 from a Mali international.
According to the DCI statement, Bathily Abdoulaye was robbed by four police officers from Nairobi Area Command at his Kilimani residence during a raid of his house.
During his arrest, the officers stole 8,000 US Dollars, Ksh.83,000, 3 Rolex watches each valued at 15,000 US Dollars, his passport and transferred Ksh30,000 from his mobile phone number to another number.

Abdoulaye was later taken to the Central police station where he was released without being booked and later demanded to pay an extra Ksh 800,000 (USD 8,000) by the officers.
The Mali international reported the matter that prompted the Flying squad to set a trap for the officers.

“FlyingSquad officers laid an ambush at Yaya center where the money was supposed to be delivered and in the process managed to arrest one suspect namely Moses Njogu Njagi who led officers to Central Police Station where No.88724 PC Kelvin Ndosi of DCI Kenya Central was arrested,” read the statement.
The stolen passport of Abdoulaye was recovered from the arrested officers and a manhunt for the rest launched.
Among those being pursued by the DCI, is a driver attached to the Nairobi County Criminal Investigations Officer.
This comes a day after two policemen were arrested after being part of a robbery in Olenguone, Nakuru County.
Detective Arthur Mureithi was arrested along with an Administration Police (AP) officer Felix Korir.
