@Jirani. wewe inakaa umetoka hizi mitaa unakataa kama hujabandikwa

Am not a pediatrician but I bet we all know the nutritional benefits of breast feeding especially during the first six months of infancy. However on psycho-social development, the link between the two has not been conclusively reached.
This has been limited by the existing differences between breast and formula-fed infants and their families. However, there are some suggestions that breast-fed infants are more alert, cry less and are better and more able to engage in interactions with their parents and other people than their formula-fed infants(sijui @Jirani ako category gani hapa). There is also a greater maternal care observed in adolescents who were breast-fed for a longer time. There is also a thought that association between the infant and the mother through breastfeeding and improved mother-child relationship may reflect improvements in child cognitive functioning associated with breastfeeding.
Although the question whether breast-feeding improves psycho-social development is not conclusive, other factors have been linked to psycho-development (or lack of it). This includes:-
-Teenage Motherhood’
-Maternal education underachievement,
-Poverty,
-Parental anti-social behavior and other mental problems,
-Family violence history,
-Child abuse and anti-parenting difficulties.
@gashwin I hope umesaidika kiasi.

Hehehe…Wacha hizo kaka.

There was a meeting somewhere in Bungoma recently where amongst many factors cited for poor child health, one stood out: breastfeeding by their adult men/husbands. True story! :slight_smile:
