To whoever it may concern... LG smart TV rooting news

LG smart TVs running webOS 3.5 or lower can now be rooted
When we feature a new root method it’s typically for a smartphone. If it’s not a smartphone then it could be a tablet, smartwatch, or an Android TV set-top box. However, more and more devices are starting to become “smart,” which essentially means they have some sort of extra software feature that previously wasn’t possible. This could be a light bulb that can be controlled by our smartphone or a TV that has applications you can install.

WebOS is a Linux-based OS that was initially developed by Palm in 2009 and subsequently acquired by HP in 2011. LG then acquired the rights to it in 2013 and has begun using the software in various devices like refrigerators, projectors, and television sets. This month, XDA Retired Recognized Developer Maroc-OS released a tool called GetMeInthat lets you root LG smart TVs that are running webOS version 3.5 or lower. The process involves uploading the GetMeIn program to your LG smart TV and then running a couple of commands via prisoner user. Read more in the XDA forum thread below

I can’t and won’t root my 1200 usd beauty. What if i brick it? It will also void my warranty. Never.

I have a problem with mine. When watching either online or offline, shit does not display the subtitles even after clicking on All settings…Accessibility…Subtitle…Choose language 1&2 and upon keying OK…NOTHING! I click on an open checkbox to the right and seems the movie is not provided with any by the program but put the same movie on my PC and “subtitle ON”, and it’s there in black and white.

So do I need this tool or what else can I possibly do mr OP.

Tis high time this corner of our village woke and becomes the most educative section of Kenyatalk.com once again, like it used to be! It should return to it’s former glory if not more! Tech Gurus of this village used to feed us on great stuff, including merits and demerits of rooting phones, but not anymore! Nowadays, if you post anything in an effort to stir a debate, it only attracts village hoodlums who just pee on the thread and then it just dies away. If you look around here today, people are only posting questions, some valid but most are otherwise non-issue and stupid, making it soo boring! It’s sad.

Lets make this subsection great again!

This should make our respected doctor @Luther12 atoke emergency room aje ajibu hili swali!
Tech Gurus, we’re ready to be awed!

I dont know of any remedy for the online problem, but for the offline, make sure the subtitle file is in the video, confirm from the site you’ve downloaded the video from, if not then download the subtitle yourself and store it in the SAME FOLDER as the video file. Your TV should pick the subtitle automatically.

NB: MP4 file containers do not support “in-built” subtitles therefore if your videos are this type you best download the subtitles; usually in .SRT format. MKV files normally have the subtitles in them but you can download once again just to be sure or solve your subtitle problem.

Thank you, Sir!
