Is there anyone who has had the chance to drive these two vans? How do they compare in terms of performance and fuel economy?

zote ni poa. nimeskia watu wakicomplain that shida ya nissan ni spares, they are veey specific and not universal to the model like toyota hence kupata ni ngumu. hapa mbele nissan has great space na toyora is squeezed

I made this choice last week. I went for Hiace 3000cc diesel auto at 2.3M. The Nissan is cheaper at 1.7M. Both are a work horse but Toyota beats Nissan in perfomance. Speed ya 7l wacha tu Ksm-Nai 5 hrs or less. Inapenda mlima sana. The Nissan is lazy na haipendi haraka ya dereva.

Nissan ni a bit slugish and noisy kiasi otherwise hakuna difference kubwa kwa consumption .go for Toyota kama wewe ni team “re sale value”

I beg to differ. I have a Nissan Caravan with a 3.0litre ZD30 CRD and 5speed manual gearbox. I do a lot of travelling and I can comfortably do those Sachangwan hills at 120kph with just revs of 2000.In terms of comfort, speed and fuel economy the Nissan beats the Toyota. Shida ya Nissan ni spare. My diesel filter costs roughly 12k.

The Nissan with ZD30 injector pump ndio a bit noisy but not sluggish as such. Maybe ikiwa auto

I tried an auto.too slow.

yes one of the nissans has an awful krrrrr sound. most likely chain driven

Hiyo mostly huwa kelele ya injectors. If you don’t have a lead-foot (mguu mzito), be gentle on the accelerator pedal and you won’t hear that sound even as your vehicle gains speed.

Auto haikimbizwi msee. Be gentle with it and let it gain speed and change gears ‘naturally’.

Aside from the expensive parts and complex electronics, NV350 sio mbaya.

diesel filter 12k??? how now?and service interval is 5000-,6000kms that’s damn expensive .

Though you don’t change the fuel filter at every service. Kuna moja rafiki yangu anayo, he calls it ‘Hummer’. Oil inatumia 9 litres.:frowning:

and what’s your take on blowing air onto onto the air filter Instead of buying a new one. ?

No problem, though depends on the environment and seasons. In dusty places you obviously will change it more often than during the rainy season when it’s not dusty.

The filter has a sensor and a switch and water separator chamber. The minimum service interval is 15,000km.If diesel has water or dirt it is unlikely to reach the engine in that state. And again my service interval is strictly 7,000km and I use 8 litres.

Inaitwa ‘diesel knock’. Na wewe Dakitari ulikuwa umepotelea wapi? I was almost starting a thread regarding your absence.

Is yours just ZD30DD (N.A) or ZD30DDT(i) the turbo version? If the latter, what oil do you use?
