Toyota Landcruiser pickups have become the AK47 of motor-vehicles. I get uncomfortable when I see long convoys of Terrorists in Syria, Yemen, Libya, Mali of 50+ brand new land cruisers. What's the role of Toyota in the war against terror? Surely the Japanese can't claim to be innocent bystanders while their product is aiding IS and other terror outfits spread fear. They should also provide information that can be used to unmask the real financiers or dealers with the terror networks.

Or it's just good business sense

Many car makers would pay a neat shilling for such endorsements. The fighters have discovered that these showroom beauties perform better than the purpose-built toughies at a fraction of the cost. What’s more, you could use it on the farm while waiting for war or vice-versa. It all started with the Toyota War of 1987, in which Chadian forces, riding on Land cruiser pick-ups, decimated a tenth of the Libyan army in a military conflict. A few months later, the Libyans had taken the cue; they too ditched purpose-built personnel carriers for the Land cruiser. Maybe Toyota should be classified as an arms manufacturer.

So you are saying it's all good? I think you have pointed out a very pertinent issue- Multinationals and big business should be more accountable and ethical in the course of doing business. There are very many cases recorded in history such as VW, BP Shell,............ but then again it goes back to the question what is this war all about? Control of oil................and I guess this is what capitalism is all about.

In days gone by, Somali warlords of the Aideed era used the same. Technicals, or so they called them.
True but I think the warlords did so for lack of alternatives while the Chadians deliberately chose the land cruiser, even though they had access to other choices largely from the French and the Americans.

thats the story sold to the masses, truth is when US and allies were supporting groups in the free syria army, they bought them those cars, afterwards either isis stole them or worse they are collaborating with them to kick Assad out
