Well, I may or may not have lost some money to the ‘tuma fare’ frauds yesterday but that is not relevant in this discussion. I know countless loud warnings have been issued about sending fare but makosa imefanyika tayari. As of now, the matter is a bridge under the water. Back to the main question; should you or should you not send fare? Now look at it this way, if you cannot trust someone with a few hundred shillings, how is it then you are willing to let them into your house and maybe even have them spend a night beside you? Would you leave a known petty criminal in your house unsupervised? My advice is, send that fare and let it serve as the first test to integrity. If someone can scam you a few shillings in broad daylight and under clear agreements, you can be sure they are capable of worse under other less clear circumstances. Even if you insist on refunding the fare after the damsel visits, consider the possibility that you could have just invited a fraud into your life. If that fraudulent woman sees an opening through which she can benefit, you can be sure she will bid her time to eventually deal you a much bigger blow than the few shillings you would have lost by sending fare in the first place. She can even stick around some more only to take off with your valuables at a later date. Therefore, my good advice to all future victims is, send that fare. If the number you are trying to call becomes unavailable after you send the money, do not feel sorry for yourself; go reward yourself with a mug of keg because you have just evaded a witless, opportunistic fraud.
