Tvs with HD Freeview channels

If you happen to use an Lg tv labeled ‘HD Freeview’, then you could be having a very fantastic gadget! Adventurous viewers are discovering that some of these sets are receiving free HD satellite channels!!! That means they are DVB-S capable. You only need to mount a satellite dish and the reception setup and try to tune to see if you are lucky.

Example is the 42LN543v.

Unfortunately, this model is no longer on the production line.
Good luck, guys!

Could it be possible that all digital tvs have inbuilt digital tuners for satellite channels as well?

I have a digital LG TV in my house. I have connected it to a UHF aerial and a Gotv decoder. Recently I noticed that when I am watching free to air channels using the aerial input, there is a channel that picks up the Gotv signal and a signal from my neigbour’s Startimes. interesting

Don’t however go looking specifically for a tv with an integrated satellite tuner, attractive as it may seem. The manufacturers always ignore software support.

happens hata na zile TV za CRT za kitambo.

You are right. And that probably explains why the manufacturer will not advertise the DVB-S2 capability of the product on the box!

Anyone who wants to buy a T.V must consult @Luther12 before buying and @Meria Mata before attempting any satellite connections plans.

…Not possible, only a selected few.

You know that you just can’t be certain. Why? Because you just, and simply, don’t think about it. You buy a digital tv and all you are conscious of is that you only need an aerial to be able to view the programs! The one who discovered the possibility of satellite signal reception was only playing around with his tv!

And these do find their way into our market through what they call GREY MARKET DEALERSHIP. Exactly what we have at our dear old Luthuli Avenue.

These DVB-T2 TVs have the ability to detect other non-fta (pay) channels from GoTv and startimes but you can’t view the channels because of course they are scrambled. For them to receive Satellite channels, they have to have a satellite LNB IN jack (of course a DVB-S2 tunner must be integrated). Only select models from LG, Samsung and Sony have such. Just confirm from the manufacturers’ websites for specific models.

@Luther12
I bought a TV in Nyeri that has internal decoder. I connected it with UHF/VHF aerial (yenye inakaa kama wire wa kuchomea nyama). Then I received over 100 channels both radio and TV. That was 2015.
Then in towards end of 2016 all channels “refused”. Now I can only view KBC channel 1.
What could be the problem?

Under what platform are the channels: GoTv, Signet, PANG/ Startimes, ADN or Bamba?
